The Toyota and Lexus brands for the 2012 model year are projected to retain the highest values over the next five years, according to Kelley Blue Book, a website dedicated to new and used car information.
Toyota Motor Corp.'s two brands were named winners of the KBB annual Best Resale Value Awards given at a ceremony Tuesday night, the eve of the first press day at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Last year's brand winners were Subaru and BMW.
KBB gathers data based on auction transactions to create its forecast. Low-volume and high-end luxury makes are not included.
The awards help consumers with purchase decisions by providing a sense of which vehicles will depreciate less than others.
