That's all that needs to be said. Nobody cares about Kia or Hyundai, hence its just you and me.

btw, my friend who's in the market for a minivan has decided on the Sienna because its on par with Honda but the Odyssey is too expensive and the Kia felt low quality. I guess the Korean gov't should've offered up more incentives.

They gained the most marketshare again in the U.S. Actually, Hyundai went from 1.4% to 5%+ marketshare in a year in the UK.

Could it be the Korean gov't subsidizes their products no matter what country they wind up in? They're matching the UK's 'cash for Hyundais' scheme too, dollar for dollar. Says right on the first page.

How can you save up to $6000 on a Tiburon and the final price is $12,000? That's 33% off the MSRP. The gov't coughs up $1000 and the Korean gov't antes up with $5000. Its called dumping.
The Sonata after subsidies is $12,795.

No news there, any 3rd world country can give away a car. Not everybody can afford an Avensis so they have to settle for Hyundai.

Humm huu, they sell Tibs like that so they can get rid of inventory.

Remember, the Tiburon/Coupe' is a discontinued car. By the way huu, its not $12,795 its 12,795 Pounds. 12,975 Great Britain Pounds is $20,976.54 US, and for you my Canadian Friend thats $22,801.36 Canadian Dollars.

Thats actually more than the base Models of the Sonata in the US by $2200 US, as the US Sonata Starts at $18,700. BTW, The US Hyundai Dealers have depleted their invetory of Tiburons.

$ or pounds, its still the same number. In realtive UK terms, the Sonata is cheap as in $4000 (pounds) cheaper than the Avensis. That's the ONLY reason why Hyundais and KIAs sell, if you believe otherwise you're stupid.

I find it funny that whites are the only people who willingly drive Hyundai's/KIAs. Koreans in Korea don't have a choice because the gov't protects that market so much. The Chinese and Japanese will buy Japanse (and even American) brands, the same deal with the N.American ones, yet the Koreans over here wouldn't be caught dead in a Hyundai/KIA.
I guess if you price it low enough, they'd drive a Pinto from Hyundai.

But American Koreans are kind of Bannana'ish anyway huu, and we both know that. Though, I see more younger Asian Americans in Hyundai Products than before of any nationality.

huu, a few Asians are conservative in buying practices. You wait for right time to see if its tried and true, and as more Hyundais are becoming tried and true you will not be able to ignore our value proposition.

I don't buy your claim that more younger Asians here drive Hyundai. Most of them get their parents to lease BMWs.

Hyundai only makes progress in markets that either don't know any better (India) or only care about the lowest prices possible (N.America and Europe).

Hyundai can't make a dent (barely 10,000/yr) in Japan, and in China, they only do well because cars are seen as status symbols, so if you can't afford a Japanese car, you have to settle for a cheaper Korean one just so you can claim to own a car too.

The only problem for Hyundai is that Asians are much more willing to support domestic brands unless they have an overwhelming reason not to, so Hyundai's days are numbered even in China.

Its universal, Hyundai can only compete on price.

I'll only give Hyundai respect if it ever becomes an innovator but judging by every other industry in Korea, this will never happen. I'm Chinese and like other Chinese and Japanese, I can afford to pay more for an original when it matters. LOL, Chinese only make immitations, they don't actually buy them :)
