There're are only 2000 coming each year to US, if I remember correctly. SO, be prepared to pay a huge mark-ups. I heard someone saying that he contacted several Nissan dealers and they all said from $10-20k.

And even then, it's STILL a bargain.

I'm not one to go for the latest and greatest. So I'm going to wait until the "gotta have it" dies down and then get it- I will definitely get this one. Maybe 2-3 years. Patience comes with age - I guess.

Looks nice, and at 70k, thats a bargain for bargain hunters.

Don't know how many people "bargain hunt" in this price range - I assume a bargain hunter is someone who buys a Kia Amanti instead of a Toyota Camry. At $70k, no one will buy this vehicle unless they really want it. Now, bang for the buck is correct - but I honestly think that the competition here is the $70k - $80k Porsche Carrera. In my mind, people buying a $70k Carrera do not buy it for its performance, but rather for the fact that they now own a Porsche. The people who buy Porsches as sports cars, for example, would really have to move all the way up to $100-$120k for real performance (i.e. Turbo).

The Kia Amanti is more expensive than the Toyota Camry.

how quick/powerful is the base $70k version, and how much is the top model with 480hp?

All version comes with the same hp and performance. The only difference are the leather and sound systems.

I'm still waiting for official performance figures as well as gas consumption figures. As I said before, for a car of this girth and bhp rating I'm having a real problem with the current performance claims. I'm convinced that during testing those numbers were put down with a much more powerful car! Anyway for those that are on their way to the Nissan dealer I got this to say...good luck getting this thing for under $70,000 grand...also do yourself a favor and make sure you undertand what the maintenance and repair cost of this car will be...I'm estimating this car will be a very expensive to fix...tires and brakes will probably be the most expensive.

You may want to go to nissanusa.com. The specs are there.

Maintenance and repair LMFAO... apparently you have never owned anything high-end. Of course the maintenance and repair are going to be outrageous, that's just a part of owning a car like this. Most who are in the market for something of this caliber should know that already.

BREMBO - There are no "official" performance figures for this car stated on their website...anywhere! The disclaimer even says that US HP figures have not been determined yet.

CLK63~ I'm not sure what you consider high end. But you assume too much about me. Also, considering Nissan is not a typical producer of "high end" cars I have no reason to think that the repair cost on a $70,000 Nissan will be the same as that on a $140,000 Porsche. It could be more for all I know. So with that I don't consider Nissan a high end producer...not on the level as say BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, etc. This car has not proven itself yet. I could care less that there was a car that came before it with a similar name. Only time will tell if this is truly a so called "high end" machine and just because a car is fast doesn't make it "high end".

it has been proven in the past with previous models and by high-end i am just referring to price and maintenance costs.

i think its a great car and a fair price however i think i would take a z06 over this.
the z06 looks better in my opinion but this car will be few on the road so thats appealing.
75k is kinda high for a nissan.
either way if you guys are saying there is a 20k mark up then porsche is a better choice.
95k with a mark up i think a porsche, or aston martin is a better deal. even if they are 1 second slower.
im sure all 2000 cars will sell.

as my mom always tells me " in a store there are always 2 people who are stupid- the seller and the buyer" if there is a seller crazy enough to convince a crazy buyer, there will always be a sale.

Well, no, it will only be on par with the Z06.

But I agree, what's better about paying $70K for a Chevy than for a Nissan? Especially when, on all accounts, Nissan's bread-and-butter products are highly superior?

As I have asked in so many posts...why doesn't Nissan officialy state that the car can do 0-60 in 3.5s, run the ring in 7:38, and is the fastest car in the world for under 100 grand (can you think of any car that can do under 3.5 and cost less than 100G...I can't). I've searched everywhere on their website and can't find any of these claims.
