Yes, it's old, and you found it from the Lexus website...?

Random.

It was supposed to be the precursor for the then-next-gen IS (this was from two or three years ago, mind you), but of course they went off course with the design. I still think the IS350 is a looker, however. Nice rims.

The IS is very nicely designed. That is true.

I'm a real estate agent and that's how I hang around here so often and a friend that happens to be the #1 Main Man in the business gets chauffeured from transaction to transaction in his Maybach and he's building a custom $20 million dollar mansion in Crystal Cove in Newport Bch, Calif.

So I agree with you.

Ricemaster,
You've got some issues. If you really were rich, I doubt you'd want to flaunt it. Why are you looking for a lowly BMW or Lexus, shouldn't you be driving a Ferrari or Bentley? If you show up in a Bimmer, they'll just say "Here's another wannabe FOB in his German-mobile". Bill Gates must be poor, he can only afford to drive around in a Lexus.

Why do you feel the need to justify buying a Lexus? Sounds more like the ones asking have some insecurities.

Your submissive Asian stereotypes are the ones who buy BMW/MB to feel superior. It takes balls to go against the grain and buy Lexus, and stand behind it because you know it's the best in every aspect.

Sorry, but you don't look cool broken down on the side of the road in your BMW, you look like an idiot (as I drive by laughing at you).

btw, my friend who probably has a net worth of atleast $20 million just traded in his Pilot and Boxster for a Cayenne (one of the cheapest Porsches), and his wife just got the new CR-V. Too bad he didn't need to announce that he's arrived (and he worked hard for to get where he is).

MDalle:

"If you move in the middle class circles the badge matters (all middle class people are badge whores)."

uhhh... i'd suggest it's mostly LOWER middle class folks who feel a need to show they've "made it," who tend to be badge whores.
UPPER middle class folks (including those lower MC by income, but MC and UMC by culture, like teachers and some professors) generally have enuff self confidence and assurance that they feel NO need to impress others.

a lot of these folks, and EVEN many upper class folks, are quite comfortable driving ordinary fords, toyotas, etc. even if they COULD afford fancier stuff.

ok, Rice. i'm getting more of a picture of you.

you ARE lower middle class. BOTH by your admission of what you can afford. and from your quote about "...can't get the man out of the ghetto."

regardless of how much MORE successful you become economically, you will NEVER be more than lower middle class MENTALLY. until you change your outlook.

this is not so much a criticism as an observation. i DO see where you're COMING from. i used to be VERY political myself, and quite aware of race politics.

but i got over it.

you know the saying, "The best revenge is living well?"
a corollary is "Living well and being MENTALLY and spiritually WEALTHY enough, that others' opinions of you are the LEAST of your concerns."

i believe lexus' design philosophy has this in mind. they have NO need to have "in your face" styling. and it has NOTHING to do with appeasing the white man.

it's all about restraint, and understated elegance. look at the Toyota Century, sold mostly just in japan and asia. it competes against Rolls Royce. and it is even MORE restrained ("boring" to some mind sets) than any lexus. and its targeted buyers are ASIANS, not whites.

now, if you WANT "in your face" styling, you could go to japan and check out some the WILD styles offered only there.

+2 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
and if none of the factory designs are "in your face" enough for you, check out some of the PRIVATELY CUSTOMIZED wheels of japan's young motorheads.

nothing prevents YOU from doing the same to your own honda, nissan, mazda or toyota.

or acura, infiniti, or lexus.

oh, but i forget! your name IS ricemaster. you're probably ALREADY doing this. (NOT a criticism)

riceman--

toyota/lexus are "bland" ONLY to those unable to appreciate understated elegance. that's what they use on the TOP LINE models, with target demographics of MATURE, refined buyers.

they CAN do bolder designs for younger folk.

see the comment i added 12/5 to a comment 12/4, on this subject. in particular, comment about toyota century V12.
