LaSorda: Plans for recovery must go on even as sale talks go on
Tom LaSorda, Chrysler’s CEO, said today that joint projects with Mercedes-Benz will still move ahead as discussions of Chrysler’s sale proceed. LaSorda said it is essential to move forward with plans to produce new and more fuel-efficient engines and components. “Those projects have to continue.” He said his main focus is to worry about the 80,000 employees of Chrysler and the turnaround plan that was discussed in February.

While all options are still on the table, LaSorda said that that has no impact on the powertrain investments, some of which will be shared with Mercedes-Benz.

Chrysler was put up for sale in February, when DaimlerChrysler CEO, Dieter Zetsche, announced that the company was keeping all options open for the group.

Mr CEO you can plan all you want, but until your corp realizes that bringing a new car to market every other month (like baking a cake and then throwing it away because nobody bought it) happens your company is doomed to total failure. Resale value is dismal to say the least, quailty of product and gimmicks are easily exposed in today's marketplace, poor dealer network and tranning make you a 1950's outfit at best.
I don't know if at this point you can ever be saved, the bottom line is the public wants your product because it is quality, has resale value, trust, and a good dealer experience, i see you don't have any of the above.
Sorry but talk is cheap, and for the most part the US auto industry was good at talk short on product and the public just works to hard to be fooled over and over that your company is really working in their best interest. cars that still rattle, cheap looking gimmicks, and poor fuel milage is doing nothing for me to want to buy your product?
When a hot item like the PT crusier which your company never tried to improve went from being sold at over sticker to $8,995,0% interest penthouse to basement was never more in order.

Amen brother. It is amazing that people with such lofty positions and titles just don't get it. Completely agree with you on the PT Cruiser comment. And does LaSorda actually do anything in Chrysler? Idiot CEO.

Could DCX be saying they will sell Chryler in an attempt to get concessions from the UAW? I mean they are going to go ahead and start planning 2 plants worth more than a billion combined while they are getting ready to sell the company? Who does that?
