Lamborghini An Enthusiasts Car? I Think Not
As the headline states, Lamborghini is definitely not an enthusiasts car. A tool of marketing genius in the past decade? Yes. A playboy's ultimate accessory? Yes. A rap moguls car? Definitely.
But to actually call Lamborghini's something an automotive enthusiast would enjoy is utterly absurd. That would be like saying Gigli is something any movie buff would have in their collection. But wait Walter, it just looks so damn good! And with that I have to agree with you, but it stops there.
If you look at Lamborghini's history it starts off in the fields of Italy when a young man known as Ferruccio Lamborghini complained about his Ferrari's clutch and Enzo told him to stick to driving tractors instead. And off he went to develop his own car in spite of Enzo (which Ford would also later do..).
Since then Lamborghini has always tried to outdo Ferrari with about as success as you marrying Pamela Anderson. Sure she may be very attractive, but after a couple of weeks you’ll be back in Vegas with divorce papers

The bottom line is this:
There are two camps of ultra-wealthy enthusiasts. There are those that want the driver's ultimate precision tool in the Ferrari F430. They can go to the trak and really exploit the handling.
Then there are the ultra-wealthy car buyers that want everyone to know they have money. These would be the buyers that buy the Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago. Sure, the Gallardo and Murcielago may not give you the amazing handling, brilliant chassis, and feel that Porsche can't even match, but the Lamborghinis will turn heads more than probably any other car.
Just look at the Gallardo and its shape. Everyone and their mother will gawk at it. Same goes for the Murcielago. Add a screaming V10 exhaust note and you have yourself a looker.
Give credit to Audi for saving a once revered brand from going bankrupt and taking Lamborghini to newfound levels of success.

I wouldn't say that, they may not have the poise of the F430 but the Gallardo has been very competitive in comparison tests and is definitely a drivers car in my view.

I think you've made a huge overstatement here, Agent. Sure, the Lamborghini is skewed to a more superficial purpose than the Ferrari, but it is still an extremely capable high-end performance machine. Also, Ferraris are very extroverted in their looks too.
You could certainly make the argument that Ferrari is more serious about driving performance given their extensive history and continued presence and success in the motorsport arena, and Lamborghini's lack thereof. It's true that Lambo has no real racing presence or heritage. Maybe that's your point. But you've gone too far. With regard to the actual road cars these companies produce, I wouldn't venture to say that a Lambo's performance was any less serious than that of a Ferrari.

What are you talking about?
The Murcielago may not be an amazing car for the track but it is a performance car.
And just so you know the Gallardo can handle just as well as the F430. The Gallardo is a pure performance car.

When I think of this car brand I do not think of rap moguls.
Rap moguls usually drive big SUV.

One reason why I dislike this car. I don't hate it but, dislike it.
Just because there are few other cars that can beat it in performance/looks.

I just can't agree with this article. You can't say lamborghini isn't an enthusiast car because it can't outdo ferrari in some performance categories. Ferrari is probably the best performance oriented brand out there. So does that mean that all other brands are not for enthusiast. I DON'T THINK SO!

Whoever wrote this article is freakin idiot?? Lambo NOT an enthusiast car? You need to STOP whatever it that you are Smoking or Inhaling dweeb.
I can't belief this??? I grew up in the late 80s and early 90s Ferrari and Lambo has alway been on the same league both on style and performance.
I know that the Ferrari F430 handle slightly better than the Gallardo, but the Gallardo definitely turn more head than the F430.
I'm just stating the fact, and Jeremey Clarkson on Top Gear can back me up with this statement. Top Gear did a comparison between the F430 and Lambo Gallardo, you should check it out.
If I have to choose between the F430 and Gallardo, the Gallardo anyday. It has a very "beautifully Sinister" look in it, and a "V10 exhaust note that will make you "wet your pant" when you hear it pulling away from you.

This is not exactly on topic. The Gallardo is funny car for me. I have made no secret of my detestation of prototypical colors that these cars are often ordered in. I particularly don't like hooker red and center-of-the-sun-blind-my-a$$ yellow.
Be that as it may, the Jaguar dealership here has decreased their inventory and so has taken to selling more exotic cars, such as Ferrari and Lamborghini. Last I was there they had a Gallardo Spyder in a very dark shade of blue. There interior was a sort of matte black on ivory. The car was so dainty and ....well, cute- like you could pick it up and put it in your pocket. In that color it was so garish either. It didn't scream "look at me, I am compensating for low-self-esteem."
The more I looked at it the more I could see my little sister driving one. Not that she needs one- the way she drives you would think her right foot was made of lead.

Agent 009 you obviously have a bias. Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and Murciélago LP640 Superleggera is all i got to say. You agent 009 are a bias. If its not an enthusiast car why even make these admired machines. I promise you, poll a million people on lamborghini or ferrari and the majority will say lamborghini. And i didnt even mention marcielago revention. Again to be an enthusiast car you have to have four elements 1. an model outside of the mainstrem model that sets itself apart. 2. A dream of driving type of machinery. 3. A racing program or model made for racing 4. The wow effect.

Go to youtube and search Lambo Gallardo reving, and you will know what I'm talking about. The grunt of the Gallardo V10 will make you either "Wet your pant or S$it your pant."
I know from first hand experience because I live in OC CA I see them almost on daily base.

amazinIdiot, you mean Rolls-Royce and Ferrari sales are inferior to Bentley and Lamborghini.
Bentley's new Continental range has taken Bentley's global sales well beyond the level that Rolls-Royce will ever reach.
Look at how much of a force Audi is in the ultra-luxury ranks.....first they buy Lamborghini and create the hot-selling Gallardo.
Now, the forthcoming Bentley Continental Flying Spur will be a sister of the future Audi A8.
amazinIdiot, do you care to provide anymore opinionated and subjective information without any actual facts to support your claim....I thought so IDIOT.

Lambos are certainly for show offs, but i must say lambos are the best designed cars in the world and i love them, and the Gallardo is pretty good, not as nifty as the F430, but the Murcealago is a complete monster, it's not a performance machine, its a demon. I love the Murcealago, i have seen it in the road, only once in my lifetime, and let me tell you, it is almost touching the ground low, and looks so striking, that nothing i have seen overall in my life can compare to those few seconds. Lambos are amazing.

Diablo SV VT is all that needs to be said, Countach. Any enthusiast and automaker envies the lines and rights to say that they were part of teams behind these incredible machines. This is like saying the Mclaren F1 is not an enthusiasts car because the Ferrari Enzo out-tracks it with it's modern more 21st century assist technology. Please.

Murcielago is the real last Lamborghini. Sad.
Gallardo and next are just Audi/VW underneath.
btw I agree Lamborghini can't match the rich history, heritage, prestige and racing succeess of Ferrari. (I don't completely believe these history things but at this price point and when u r talking Ferrari or Rolls u have to).
anyway LP640 is one of my fav car. Just love it.

Oh, really? It may have an Audi interior, but the Gallardo--almost all of it--is exclusive to Lamborghini. The only parts it shares with the R8 are the transmission and the aluminum spaceframe.

Well get ready for a lot more Audi engineering at the ultra-luxury level. The next Bentley Flying Spur will be a sister car of the Audi A8.
Even though Bentley's new Continental lineup is selling like hotcakes, the sharing of the Volkswagen components hurts it.
I can't wait first, Audi creates the Gallardo and very soon the Bentley Continental Flying Spur will share Audi components.
amazing.

I would still prefer to keep my Porsche over a F430 and a Gallardo, to track, but I think that if I were in an Italian, it would definitely turn more heads.
As for history, well, every company has its own great history whether its in racing, luxury, or anything.

Until you define "enthusiast", Agent 009, your article doesn't offer any meaning. You may have very specific interpretations of who should own a Lamborghini, and that's fine. Some of us prefer to allow other interpretations of enthusiasm for a phenomenal car, which the Lamborghini is. Lamborghini is, and always has been, coveted by enthusiasts. Anyone who pays a premium price for a vehicle is an automotive enthusiast. Anyone who restores an old Yugo and paints custom flames on the bonnet is an enthusiast. Otherwise, they would spend their time and money elsewhere. As much as you and I might wish it so, driving ability is not a condition of being an enthusiast, and absolute performance of a vehicle has no bearing on how much an enthusiast covets his favorite car.

So on Autospies... Lamborghinis are not enthusiast Cars, judged by a bunch of wack jobs who believe they are enthusiasts, yet they are only about 14 years old.
So according the then enthusiast, 009, what makes an Enthusiast Car and please describe how you are an enthusiast...

He is free to think what he wants, free to say what he wants.

Try to explain to anybody who lives in a constantly Wet / Cold area that the Lamborghini Gallardo is not as nimble as the F430.

Saying that Lamborghinis aren't for enthusiasts is like saying Aston Martins are not, either.
No, neither of them have the perfect steering and driver feedback of a Ferrari, but they both give you some of the sexiest styling in the world, mouth-watering exhaust notes, attention from everyone you pass by, luxurious interiors, unique owners' experiences and the ability to make their owners happy.
Isn't that what really matters, being enthusiasts? The car making us happy? It doesn't matter how much power it has or how expensive it was--but that we enjoy it. You could argue that my car is overweight and doesn't handle well enough. But I still love it. So I don't care!

Rolls has killed my beloved Bentley in the market??
How so? Can you provide factual data to support your claim amazinIdiot?
Bentley outsells Rolls-Royce by more than 2 to 1 globally.
amazinIdiot, you are a true IDIOT it's hilarious.
Understand Idiot that Rolls Royce has realized they are getting slaughtered by Bentley in the global sales race and therefore Rolls-Royce is creating a CHEAPER model priced at around $250K which clearly isn't double the price of the $170K Bentley Continental Flying Spur or $200K Bentley Continental GT Conertible (GTC)
YOU ARE SUCH AN IDIOT.
By the way.....you asked for me to post data from a reliable source indicating that the Audi A6 outsells the BMW 5-series and Mercedes-Benz E-class globally and I DID on the A6 facelift thread.
Anymore purely subjective and opinionated comments from you AmazinIdiot??
I thought so....I love putting your lack of knowledge on display and making you look like a fool by calling you out on every single opinionated and subjective arguement you post that bashes Audi.
Although, your appreciation of the R8 and TT-S are most welcomed. I think you are starting to become attracted to Audi.
An R8?? You, yourself lauded that car you MORON.
What is wrong with a car that has won numerous Car of the Year Awards and comparison tests, has excellent performance, amazin handling, poise and balance and exotic looks that turn heads like a Lamborghini??
Did I mention an even faster V10 is on the horizon and will debut later this year and if you want to get better fuel efficiency the R8 V12 TDI Concept will probably be produced and can get you from 0-60 in the mid 3-second range while providing over 26 mph on the highway....Audi is truly remarkable in their attempt to create the first diesel powered exotic sportscar.

It all depends upon your definition of "car enthusiast". This sounds strikingly similar to talk of "real bikers". You know... you're not a Real Biker(TM) unless you ride a specific brand. It appears that you're telling me you're not a real "car enthusiast" if you drive a Lambo.
Pure silliness.
