Lamborghini CEO: It's about how the car sounds, no plans to downsize engines
Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann is not worried about fuel-economy or emission standards set by the government. Winkelman said that while a supercars are all about how fast they accelerates or the top speed, it does matter how the car sounds.

In an interview with Automotive News, reporter Mark Rechtin asked Winkelmann whether Lamborghini will downsize its V10 and V12 engines in order to meet future CO2 regulations. Simply put, Winkelmann replied “No. We are selling very few cars, and our customers drive less than...

But Japan are downsizing there engines. And everyone knows that Japan dictates what the rest of the world will do when it comes to cars. Lamborghini will never survive with that strategy. They should be looking into replacing their engines with Low-Power High Fuel Mileage cars.

Gas Prices are high. The Millionaires that Purchase these types of vehicles will be seriously upset when they get wind of the MPG numbers.

Beside not being original with your screen name, copying mine, you are stupid. Wealthy people who drive exotic cars do not worry about mpg. That's something the Camry buyers worry about. Beside, Japan might be good for economy cars, but Japan don't dictate shit when it comes to ultra luxury and exotic cars.

THANK YOU!, Nobody cares about the environment if they are buying a lambo, its a low-production company and the drivers only drive their cars like 2000-5000 miles a year at the most.

Its good that they care about efficiency but come on, Lamborghini isnt some tree hugging group of italians.

The Gallardo LP560 has greatly improved fuel economy thanks to direct injection. I think Lamborghini will do the same to the V12 in the near future.

Exactly!

"it's about how the car sounds". That is what differentiates a supercar a supercar. Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and the SLR has their unique sounds to be unique.

If downsizing to improve fuel economy that may hurt the performance numbers which also might not be good.

No Italian supercar deserves a downgrade.

ROFL

They will probably do even better with this "strategy." While all the other companies downsize their power plants and try to be more green or whatever, Lamborghini will continue making cars that raise your pulse with ridiculous horsepower and beautiful sound! Hats off to Lamborghini for not bending to the "green" mob...

Lamborghini cares for the environment as much as they care about not making money.

No automotive company cares about the enviroment. They do care about the green hippy's who are more then happy to pay extra for a so called green/clean car.

Lamborghinis are for "drivers." Those horses shouldn't be locked up and suppressed in their stables.

Actually, I would say Lamborghini's are for super rich posers. Definitely the eurotrash of the exotic car world....what Camaro drivers get when they hit the lottery.
