Land Rover said on Tuesday that its 2007 Defender gets a new powertrain, as well as a revised interior with new seating. The vehicle is set for sale in Europe.

The '07 Defender gets a new 2.4-liter common-rail diesel engine with engine output rated at 120 hp, with more than 90 percent of peak power available from less than 2200 rpm to more than 4350 rpm. Torque output is higher than the outgoing engine, with 265 pound-feet delivered at 2000 rpm.

Land Rover says the new GFT MT 82 six-speed gearbox provides a "much wider ratio spread than before." Fuel economy ratings are not available and pricing has not been announced.

Changes to the vehicle's exterior have been minimized. But cabin changes are dramatic and include new high-output heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, as well as a new full-size forward-facing third-row seat option...
