Land Rover responds to poor quality accusations

There should be any excuse, just admit the false and fixed the problem and carry on. Lame pathetic execuse, come on.. Your Brand Land Rover, one of the most expansive brand out there, you have rand last with 204 problem per vechicle...?

I think that most European manufacturers that faired "horribly" had these kinds of problems, a light goes off, but nothing really happened, sure they are problems, but not any that are really bad.

They may not be REALLY bad but still, you are selling vehicles that in as high as 85 grand plus... for that kind of money you simply cannot afford to be DEAD LAST on these types of surveys. More importantly forget the survey, there REALLY ARE problems happening, it is not in people's imaginations.

I had a Land Rover and the damn thing LEAKED when I went through a car wash... I mean a lot, down on the passenger floor srea (through the engine). They fixed it with a tupe of black bathroom caulking... embarassing and unforgivably low build quality for ANY car.

Engine management software, putting in different engines this is absolutely stupid. They shouldn't have even released any of this. I mean what kind of stupid designers do these people have that they do this type of things. I mean you switch from BMW engines to Jag engines and then think that the engine software doesn't have to be changed at all? Hilarious. This is actually a very poor excuse, they should have stuck to the excuse offered by other Euro brands: high performance of these cars and lots of technology lead to an car more likely to break. I can accept that no problem. Wow I still can't get over this explanation. WOW.

Yea, it was a major mistake to release such a lame excuse.

It makes the brand look foolish and unorganized and as if they flat do not know what they are doing. teh obvious question here is if this excuse is true then how can the quality control be so poor to allow this to happen? These vehicles (especially the Range Rover which is at the center of this all) are VERY expensive. They are at the very top of the price ladder for SUVs and yet they have the absolute WORST satisfaction ratings. Are the engineers THAT inempt? Come on... If you could not get the new (and inferior) engines to work then delay the release of the car. Anything would be better then betraying the trust of your customers like this.

I understand that land Rover is trying to get across that these are small problems, that the cars are not falling apart, but honestly this makes them look much worse than saying nothing at all.

most of the problems are electronic though, so while annoying, are fixed quite easily.

Land Rover customers, I personally know a few, are notoriously ill informed about automobiles in general and to a more or less similar extent Jaguar customers are deficient in this matter as well. Most of these customers are buying into the supposed name and "prestige" of these vehicles.

Honda buyers are some of the most knowledgeable and loyal customers according to a report I read not long ago.

I disagree that LR customers are ill-informed. Actually these buyers are well aware of the problems, but they still want the cars because they like them so much. There's been a long history of this kind of British car following. I'm guilty of being in this category, having owned Jags, suffered the problems, but still wanting to drive British vehicles despite low build quality.
