Leaked: Toyota Auris HSD Full Hybrid Concept

Last week we saw the first photo with the new Auris HSD Full Hybrid Concept which promises to introduce Toyota’s full hybrid technology to a mainstream model.

The new concept shows a series of aerodynamic changes comparing it to the ‘standard’ model and a new drag coefficient of just 0.28. The interior reflects the hybrid character of the car and is finished in blue leather and stitching. Regarding the technical part, Auris Hybrid will be capable to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 10 seconds while the CO2 emission will be around 100 g/km.

Actually the front lights and the back side of this Auris is a little bit different of the real Auris we've got here now. But this hybrid Auris looks better.

Because the smaller fuel consumption of the car you start with is, the less you gain by shaving given percent of it. Still, so far as I know, there will be Yaris hybrid too.

Yaris Hybrid would be unaffective. The car gets such good mpg currently with a gas engine only that adding the cost of the hybrid technology would not offset the sell price for the small gain you would see.

Toyota should work the other direction too and start offering TRD versions of cars in the states. Not just accessories but give the cars more performance, suspension upgrades, appearance, exhaust, etc. It seems lately TRD is more into mufflers and handling than actual power gains. They did have TRD versions of the trucks for a short time. But instead of XRS, make a Matrix or Corolla TRD to compete with the Civic Si, and wedge the V6 from the Rav 4 or put a turbo on the 2.4L engine. I know the V6 is a stretch but it wouldn't hurt if they added some competition and fun to the lineup of granny-mobiles.
