The IS-F marketing campaign is starting to look like an old stripper. They can do all the fancy maneuvers they want but if your are not hot your are not hot.
Please show some real world stats, specs, numbers, reviews, lap times.

Nice anology of the lexus to an old stripper, it is no fine classy NY one like the RS4.
You shouldnt read or post comments on articles that are not informative news to you, or you should rant on every lexus article before this one for not having current news. Dont bring your tude to the table if youve got nothing new to input either.

How does that Koolaid taste.
It won't matter if this vehicle has 600hp, it is still a Toyota/Lexus. It is not going to "destroy" anyone. (based on looks alone that is definitely not going to happen)
It's appeal will be limited by the market for high performance Luxury autos where MB,BMW,Audi,Porsche et al have a proven record of delivering great autos that have stood the test of time and become collectors favorites.
Let us see how time treats the F-series. As for now, I am tired of hearing about this never-ending slow reveal.Next.

I really don't believe an intelligent person would think the IS-F will be on a showroom floor before concrete numbers are made available.
Why bitch and moan because the numbers haven't been released yet?
Oh, that's right. I forgot how desperate some of you guys are for anything Lexus to complain about.
How about you guys just focus on bitching about the stats for other, already released, Lexus models. Then you can bitch about the IS-F figures once they are available.

I am not one of the "Lexus fanboys" who constantly post ridiculous stuff. Perhaps you are confusing my desire for fairness with being a fanboy.
Regardless, I aknowledge that the fanboys you speak of are quite overzealous and foolish most of the time, but I view your constant bitching of all-things-Lexus to be equally juvenile.

The Germans (BMW and Merc and Audi)are bound by a gentlemans agreement to limit to 155 mph set quite a few years ago.
Lexus is not part of that agreement so they can limit to whatever speed is the max if they want.
Really over here it is academic. But Lexus can brag freely about whatever it wants, whether the true top speed is faster or slower in real life.

HoustonCutie2000- google it and you will see.
But here is an excerpt from just one of the hits in case you still find it a bit difficult. BMW did make an exception to their agreement for the M6.
I say modified because BMW is part of a “gentleman’s agreement” hammered out in the 70’s, when Germany’s Green Party wanted to impose speed limits on de-restricted autobahns. Mercedes, BMW and Audi all agreed to limit their products’ top speed to 155mph.
BTW your apology is accepted.

why does the S65 have a 158mph top speed? Because it's limited. Without the governor it would go over 200mph, and so would the M5 and M6.

A bit premature for the IS-F to claim it is the best? If I were a betting person it might hit 170 downhill with a tailwind.
But that still is pretty darn good.
About the Mercedes S65 AMG having a Top Speed of 158 mph. I don't think 3 mph is that big of an issue to waste bandwidth on.
The IS-F is still a major step forward for a company typically delivers 85% of the performance for 70% of the price.
If that formula still holds true then value conscience enthusiast will still embrace the appeal. After all close enough for 70% of the price has alway rung true for some and Lexus built it's foundation on that philosophy.
Only now with the IS-F and LF-A can they break free from Walmart philosophy.

agent009 is correct. 155 has been the self-imposed limit on german cars for years now.
and why is it impressive that lexus set their governor higher. that's just a keystroke difference and say precisly NOTHING about the car.
and so far, we know NOTHING about the actual performance of this car. it's just a pipe dream!

HOUSTON:
Before you keep making dim-witted comments about exceptions to the gentleman's agreement, let me give you some FACTS:
• High-performance models, such as the S65 AMG and the new BMW M6, have sometimes slipped by the agreement. You can order any AMG car without a limiter. The Audi R8, on the other hand, doesn't come with one and can go up to about 190mph.
• Porsche is not in the agreement. It's ONLY Audi, BMW and Mercedes.
• The limiter has nothing to do with the actual top speed. For all we know, the RS4 and M3 can easily go past 180mph.

I said basically the same thing a while back. If you fall short just announce you have a better model in the pipeline somewhere else in the mix.
Honestly though, while Lexus makes a well built car, I rarely see them at the top of any comparison test other than price. But price is an important part of the equation the Germans seem to miss.
After all how often do you really need a 200 mph sedan that goes 0-60 in 4.2 second. When you can have a 170mph one that goes 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. Remember we only can drive 80 mph here legally and only in some states.

The Germans are at a huge disadvantage here. The dollar is weak and the Euro is strong. Need I explain? I think you know this already.

there's fine line between suspense and pissing people off.
they've begun to piss people off this this car by not revealing performance stats and not letting a journalist drive it for 18 months now.

Lexus had told us nothing but 0-60 under 4.9, Max speed 168mph, 5 liter V-8 with more than 400 hp and more than 350 ft/lb torque for about 4-5 months now?
M3, C63 AMG came out and they still aren't telling us any more informations. I guess we'll have to wait longer for the engineers to finalize their outputs to "outperform" the Germans.
