But BMW and Porsche have a long heritage of motorsports participation in other more renowned racing series like Le Mans, DTM, WRC, Panamericana Carrera (or Carrera Panamericana), Formula One etc.

So BMW and Porsche participating in this series isn't a problem for "global exposure". Most people will know about the racing heritage of those two German brands.

Because Lexus has a small motorsport heritage in comparison to most other brands, they should just not compete in any races?

I don't understand the obsession to the 'heritage' of BMW or Porsche or MB or whatever. That's history, and that's great, but that doesn't tell anything about current. Why is it so bad not to have the 'heritage' in the first place? That just means new to the sport, new challenger. If the new guys come in and start beating the ones with 'a lot' more experience, then that would actually be impressive.

In the case for F1, heritage is just to do with the name, not much to do with the company itself anyway. BMW bought Swiss Sauber, who builds a very good car for them. BMW as a company with 'heritage' produces engine and initially problematic gearbox. Mercedes supplys engine to McLaren, a team with 'heritage', who had glorious time in the past with Honda (no heritage?). Success doesn't have much to do with heritage these days. It's got a lot to do with who they work with. So, what's the big deal with 'heritage'??

I think Fabian's point was that this racing series is nothing special in the sense that if Lexus wins here, it won't help their global sales. Brands that perform well in world renowned races do well, historically.

Take for example Audi. With their recent victories at Le Mans, their sales have just increased big time, particularly in Europe and Asia.

Lexus doing well in this Rolex series is practically a waste of time from a global marketing perspective as nobody outside of the US has heard of this. In fact I have not even heard of it.

One of the most difficult and challenging races of all time. Takes place in Mexico (Central America) and South America. Won by Mercedes-Benz numerous times.

Lexus didn't win the six hours of the glen, pontiac did. the number 99 gainsco pontiac riley won the race. you guys are f@#$ing stupid

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.

Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2

Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.

Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....
