Lexus Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over ES350 Airbags
Business Wire reports that the law firm of Sheldon J. Schlesinger, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has hit Lexus and corporate parent Toyota with a class action lawsuit relating to the ES350's airbag sensors. According to Lexusdefect.com, "many owners have found that these sensors are intermittently turning off thereby creating a situation where… the air bag would not deploy."

"company spokespersons have stated that there is a problem, but they do not know how to fix it." Without citing any statistical evidence to support the allegation, they "believe that there is strong evidence this problem effects every single ES 350"
Wow, that's just a bit of FUD, combined with
They aren't asking much– just for Lexus to recall and re-purchase the cars at their full cost, give full refunds to lessors and "compensatory damages for all costs and loss of value."
It sounds like someone is trying to go out of their way to get their money back on a car they may not have wanted.
What are the statistics for crashes where the airbag did not deploy? What about more pertinent questions like where else is that sensor used. I mean this sounds more like grounds for a recall, not for what they plaintiff is asking.

scary to read that,
one of my best fiends had the older generation es300...he crashed it into a back of a truck after having it for just two weeks, surprisingly same thing where the airbags didn't pop out but thankfully nothing happened to him.
lexus engineers didn't have a clue on why they failed saying the sensors got totally damaged and didn't deploy the airbags!
i've added the pictures to my agent page, so decide for yourself but lexus has to fix this problem as lives are at stake, i drove the car after they got it repaired and i won't deny that thing was horrible to drive and handled like a boat! (added pics of how it looked after it was fixed too)

The firm is asking Lexus to REPURCHASE the cars? What is the problem with simply recalling the vehicles (if there are as many as they say) and fixing the sensor alone. As far as information goes, there isn't anything else wrong with the car but a buggy sensor. This firm is GREEDY!.. Almost as greedy as kpaxx is when he sees a story like this.

I agree, a recall and a fix to the problem should suffice. Greedy greedy greedy, and lawyers wonder why they have a bad name!

Well, if the 2007 ES350 is suspect, this has to affect the 2007 Camry as well. My gut feeling is this suit has no merit, because Toyota has used the same basic system since 2004 in both the Camry and ES 330/350. I have two Camrys, an ‘04 and an ‘05, BTW.
I follow the Camry “problems” boards on edmunds.com, and I have seen NO ONE complain about this, even though there are plenty of gripes about alleged transmission hesitation, for both the 4-cylinder and V6 models. Then there are the GM fanboys/trolls in there rooting for Toyota to go down in flames, but that’s another story…
Those weight-sensing airbag on/off switches can be sensitive around the threshold of weight for very small adults, or if people don’t sit up straight in the seat (no feet out the window please), so I can see someone finding an “issue” with this."
Bingo was his name-o?

Could be somthing as simple as a wiring harnes.....I know gm takes a hit from editiors for cookie cutter cars when toyota does the samething but, there are some differnces such as wiring for differrent lights, and sensors SUCH AS THE AIRBAG so you cant just say both cars are entirly the same.

This web-site was established by Sheldon J. Schlesinger, PA expressly for you.
We believe there MAY be a serious defect with the ES350 passenger airbag system.
We are collecting information from ES 350 owners and leasors to determine the extent of the problem. Complete the form below and submit your contact information and a member of our law firm will be in touch to give you up-to-date information and answer any questions you may have regarding your rights as a consumer.

Sounds to me like this lawyer is just trying to make a name for himself.
Hell even he states that there MAY be a problem.
Before this numb nut throws a civil suit, it would have been more logical to check all ES350's that have actually been in a frontal collision and see if the airbags were deployed.
I think this story is full of crap and the lawyer himself should be thrown in jail for scaring the public without hard facts.

The man's wife was simply too small for the seat to recognize her as a human. Buy some food and eat instead of suing Toyota.

Yes. They're called children and little people, and they should be properly secured in a booster seat in the back of any automobile.

German fanboy propaganda. The ES350 totally outclasses any German car so they resort to fake news to make a case against Lexus. I am willing to bet that this was actually a case against BMW but some brilliant German fanboy replaced BMW with Lexus. Typical.

If it's not the breaks and windshield noise on the LS460 it's the airbags on the ES350.
It's one thing after another with a Lexus :(

EL, let me guess. You own a Lexus and because it is in the shop so much, you hate it and all Lexuses in general ---- or do you own a German car and I am just confused? Either way, your hatred does nothing toward a viable comment.

No story here. This will end up in the same place as the "hybrid" lawsuit. Just another lawyer looking for a piece of the Toyota profit pie.
