Lexus’ Future: Small SUV, IS coupe and convertible, 7-Seater crossover
While Lexus executives fear that the expanding lineup at Lexus may harm its luxury status, Lexus will continue to pump out more models. Most executives feel that if Lexus keeps its price tag below $30,000, its cars will be seen as competitors in the luxury segment no matter what the volume is.
So what’s in the works for Lexus in the next couple of years? Well you already know about the Lexus IS Coupe and Convertible coming by 2009, but Lexus is hard at work with a small SUV based on the RAV4 to compete with the BMW X3 and the upcoming Mercedes GLK. The long awaited seven-seater crossover is also expected in 2009.

I dought very much they will have a vehicle that is priced under $30,000
just becaus BMW and Mercedes will have it. To maintain their Luxury status,
going downmarket would hurt that, especially in the U.S. Mercedes and BMW really do not offer their low-end models in America because they realize it may hurt their premium image.

Ha! Youre wrong. Lexus is already compared to buick, if prices get any cheeper you might as well buy a leather equiped Honda.

"small SUV based on the RAV4 to compete with the BMW X3 and the upcoming Mercedes GLK."
I don't think it's a bad move.Lexus can't miss this market(as RX proved it that this where the sales are).
Infiniti EX and FX
Lexus RX and upcoming X
I think upcoming Crossover will directly rival Inifinti EX more than any one else.
and 7 Seater Croosover is intresting.

Where the hell do they get their information? An ES350 hybrid? Although it sounds logical and dealers want it, the problem is with the engine. In order for a vehicle to be hybrid all its systems need to be electric, like the A/C, steering, etc. The new 3.5 liter V6 doesn't fit the electric steering necessary for the hybrid powertrain. Need logical proof? The RX400h for 2008 still uses the 3.3 liter engine. Could they also use the 3.3 liter in the ES? Yes, but I've been told they wouldn't. My source could be wrong but I doubt it.

Again BentleyGT is wrong again. GM has been trying to move Buick upmarket and become a Lexus competitor, so therefore Buick is comparing itself to Lexus...
Geez, maybe you change your name to MISinfo....

Bentley GT...
the Lexus wasn't compared to Buick. they recieved similar standard froms JD Power. very different thatn a comparison...
your view is the same as saying BMW is being compared to Kia and Hyundai's because of the test they were in when they failed the side-impact crash.
does the analogy make any sense?
as for the intro to the Lexus line-up...everyone knows Lexus will enter the segments where they see a market available. They are out to spoil the earnnings of the competition and are succeeding in doing so.
They may not have the same sales figures as bigger, more established car companies, but one thing all the German enthusiasts fail to realize is that Lexus is the main threat to their companies. and whether you agree with their models/designs is irrelevant, being that both BMW & Benz have had to alter their strategies to cope with the affect Lexus has brought to the plate.

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.
Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2
Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.
Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....

Holy crap, buddy. You have NO life! You have been posting this crock of shit non stop for the past few months.
"Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds."
Lexus' claimed time (done by a 3rd party - Wards) is 5.3 seconds for the IS 350. The IS 350 (since you are quoting Car and Driver, I might as well do the same) posted a 0-60mph time of 5.1 seconds. With Road and Track, the IS 350 posted a time of 4.9 seconds.
Here are my references (don't read them if you don't want to be proven wrong):

http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/download/02073car.pdf
If you are going to be demanding *REFUNDS* for Lexus cars or something like a class-action lawsuit (laughs!), you should at least make a good case. Is this what you do for a living? Because if so, you SUCK at it.
Do you ALWAYS speak in definitives regarding things that are NOT definitive?
Oh, and speaking of Car and Driver and using that as a reference for demanding "refunds or apologies from the so-called 'quality' car company", why don't you perform the same public service message for BMW? The BMW couldn't finish the comparison! It overheated and almost killed the driver in a 360-degree spin!
"Then the ABS lamp lit. We tried to execute one stop on our high-desert test road and nearly executed a 360 spin at 70 mph instead (thus, our braking number is from a previous test). Shortly thereafter several airbag-malfunction warnings lit up. Maybe it was just a coincidence.
Even with its dash ablaze in emergency alerts, the 330i wormed its way into our hearts."

I am dying to hear your response because it sounds like you know what you are talking about.
