Lexus LF-A won its first race in Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy at Nurburgring
The Lexus LF-A won the SP8 class of the Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy race at Nurburgring. The Lexus LF-A finished 2 laps ahead of the Chevrolet Corvette which was entered by Kissling Motorsport and 8 laps ahead of the Aston Martin Vantage that finished third.

The cars in that race result page is listed in the order of class, and then ranking within the class. Though I'm not sure about its exact postion, the LF-A finishes much higher than 77th overall.

You guys need to read the details on this one, it won it's group (SP8), not the race:
During the four-hour race, the LF-A covered 23 15.13-mile laps, grabbing 77th place. Its fastest lap was 9:06. While that lap time may sound slow compared to the Nissan GT-R's best 'Ring time of 7:29, the GT-R was clocked on just the 12.9-mile Nordschleife without the additional sprint section. The LF-A drove in group SP8.

1st and 2nd place were won by a pair of BMW Z4's with 28 laps completed avg lap time of 4:08:37.817
The LF-A completed 23 laps @ 4:11:23.079
An interesting note was 53rd place was a Ford Fiesta with 24 laps @ 4:13:43.610.

Keep in mind that while most if not all of the competing cars in this race were heavily modified and tuned from their respective production road cars, the LF-A was minimally modified only to satisfy the race's rules and safety regulations. The purpose is not to win the race but to test the durability of the production car, so the less the modification, the better the race data reflects the actual production car.

Are you an engineer on the development team?! What modifications did you make to satisfiy the rules?

Toyota explicitly says it themselves in the announcement of the LF-A's race participation. Read it yourself:

That may explain why modified VW Golfs and Ford Fiestas beat it by laps. Either those cars are VERY fast or the LF-A has other issues.

And those Golfs and Fiestas beats a lot of M3's too. Your point? Heavily modified, anything is possible, since they aren't bound to road regulations and production constraints.

modified honda CIVICS beat out corvettes and many other v8s, to say nothing of 6-cylinder poseur cars.

^^^ above post made before i actually read the results! which verified what i said. and civics completely SWEPT its class; granted, seems no other maker is even represented/competitive in that class!
but again, as mentioned, most cars were heavily modified.
(i had been thinking of SoCal import 'tuner' cars, where tuned civics and integras do indeed beat out many a bigger engined car.)

a heavily modified civic or integra is a lot to work on. the 4 cyl may have beaten a V8, but the V8 can take a lots of stress and abuse as it is able to keep its power going w/o losing it, lots of supercars have these for a reason, including the lfa.

It fails to finish. That's the whole point of the endurance race. Not only the car has to be fast, but more importantly, it has to be reliable enough to finish a great number of grueling laps at the Nurburgring.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I was just impressed with its speed, especially when you compare it to the LF A's 9:06. I wonder if and how much it was modified.

why not? that means the lexus RAN ALL OTHER CARS in its class INTO THE GROUND! it was the ONLY survivor at the end of the 4 hour race. ALL of its competitors BROKE.
this included a Lamborghini that lasted all of 28'23", a Porsche 997 turbo that broke after a mere 1:47:25, and an Aston that lasted just 2:35:32. it's closest competitor, which did not even last long enuff for an earned 2nd place, was a corvette which expired after 3:24:27. the Viper only completed 9 laps.
if anything, this is ALL THE MORE IMPRESSIVE for the Lexus. "The last man (car) standing!"

77th PLACE?
Just to reiterate so there's no confusion:
this isn't the same course that the GT-R and ZR1 are lapping. That course is exclusively run on the Nordschliefe, so comparing times is like comparing apples and oranges... racing with traffic.

thank you so much, another thing i noticed is that in terms of speed, fastest lap done on this track, the LF-A was only able to do a lap faster than the aston martin. i wish they listed lap times for each lap completed rather than just fastest lap

alot of lexus fanboys out there deboosting i guess. look on the brightside, legendary reliability i guess allowed this car to complete this race best in class but definitely not speed.

As I mentioned, the LF-A racer was minimally modified only to satisfy the rules and safety regulations of this race, unlike most other competing cars, which were heavily modified to be all-out race cars. Did you honestly think that the BMW Z4 had any chance against the LF-A in stock form, or for that matter, the many M3's and 911's that it also beated in this race?

NeoReaper:
"the LF-A was only able to do a lap faster than the aston martin. i wish they listed lap times for each lap completed rather than just fastest lap."
nope, you read that wrong. actually, ALL the other cars were faster (on fastest lap). reflecting state of tune, apparently. and as i said above, they ALL BROKE DOWN before the race ended, leaving the Lexus alone to triumph.
doesn't say much for the Aston, that it was the SLOWEST of the group, and it too broke! altho' it did outlast the other cars, except for the 'Vette and the LF-A.
when it finally gets offered to the public, Lexus can rightly claim they have a car FULLY COMPARABLE to the exoticars! faster, and FAR more durable.

note too that in the SP5 class, a Lexus IS250 came in SECOND, DESPITE being the SLOWEST car in its class on lap times. a full 1:02.4 slower than the winning M3.
ALL THE OTHER m3s also broke down before the race ended.
just like its Toyota brethen, fastest or not, you can expect Lexi to GO THE DISTANCE and still be running long after other cars have broken down.
