Lexus LFA to debut next month in 24 hour race
Toyota has confirmed via its Japanese press site that its upcoming Lexus LF-A supercar will contest the Nurburgring 24 hour endurance challenge – dubbed the 36th ADAC Zurich 24h Race 2008 – in Germany next month.

This will be the first public debut of the new supercar although details about the final production model are expected to be kept secret.

A prototype of the racing-spec LF-A was spotted recently at the Nurburgring and as these spy images reveal the car has a number of new features never before seen on previous test-mules.

I'm not totally sure about this but the obvious thing would be for lexus to enter the LFA into J-S-GT. But they wouldnt use a Super GT 500 car for normal GT1, GT2, GT3 class races. So maybe their long term plan for the LFA is to enter into FIA GT against corvette, ferrari, maserati and aston martin.

The Nurburgring 24h is a cracking event, it doesnt have the profile of lemans but it is a far more demanding and interesting race. There isn't normally alot of factory backed teams there, BMW had a couple of wins with the M3 GTR but there is normally very little serious competition. With VW field the scirroco in the 2 litre class and the LFA at the sharp end, maybe manufacturers are taking more interest in this 24hr race.

Well, better to debut in a race, the more credibility, the better chance they have with this car.

Liking the "Matte-Finish" look. Like the IS-F, I wonder if those exhaust pipes are acutally connected to the exhaust system? LOL!!!

who cares? its funny how people like to say that they are not connected, like it really matters. ive never heard of anyone complaining about other cars' chrome tips, when the rest of the exhaust is not. so, all cars have fake tips? its just for looks, just like EVERY OTHER CAR. get over it already..

Those exhaust tips on the IS-F are designed in a way to let the airflow better around the car at speeds over 100mph.

This article is about the LFA not the IS-F !

This is the one of the closest production versions of the LF-A I've seen! Looking very polished! It's going to be so awesome.

Does anyone know what the giant air inlets on the rear quarter panels are? It looks like the radiators for this vehicle are possibly in the rear. Unless this car, unannounced to me, became mid-rear instead of front-rear? Not sure but would definitely like to know.

There's one radiator on each side. I hope they make it look like this (or close) in the production version with the crazy lower underbody spoilers and wide body. This LF-A is really coming along and I hope there's some video or pictures of this upcoming event, with some more engine/exhaust sounds.

Looks nicer than the Autoshow pics IMO. But the LF-A has it's work cut out for it. You can get similar (if not better) performance and similar luxury for about half the price if you opt for a GT-R. If all of the rumors are correct, the Lexus will be priced in an area in which it doesn't belong IMO.

If the car LF-A is priced under $100k then they will have something good. If it's over $100K most people would chose a brand with a reputable history of building cars at that level. Lexus doesn't have that yet.

The GT-R and LF-A will be nowhere near each other in terms of luxury. Also, who's to say where the threshold is for how much people will spend on a "reputable" brand? People are paying $100K already for the LS hybrid, it will not be a stretch for people who can actually afford the car to take a "risk" on buying one.
