so would you rather the vehicle be released early to suit you dying need, or Lexus fine-tune what's needed so this car doesn't let down the consumer.

i'd take the latter...build it to perfection as close as possible

It's good that Lexus takes the road of GT-R - Patience, and reward.
In that sense I'm disappointed with the SLS. That's what you get if you don't give a project enoguh time, but only to think about ripping money - You got the same old thing(beneath).

then maybe Lexus should stop testing this every other Sunday for the last 4 years and actually release it. This ranks up there with the NSX for delayed promise. And as far as the "consumer" goes, look...it's not like they're gonna be scrutinizing this compared to a Ferrari, they're simply buying it for exclusivity, nothing more. You act as if Lexus has some supercar heritage.

You people do realize that at one point this car was almost canceled? They weren't even going to build it due to the economy. I see no reason why Lexus needs to rush anything, as long as when the actual car hits production it looks and drives great, who cares? Also, Lexus is building a racing heritage. You act like Ferrari was born with a racing heritage from the start.

Let's the see, the SLS has not even been properly tested yet and already we have people here talking about how disappointed they are with that car and how it was "rushed into production".

1. It's positioned under SL65 AMG black.
2. Who cares if it's tested or not. It won't go under 7:30.
3. Just look at that engine. Mercedes doesn't even bother to come up with something new, like those of 9000 rpm LF-A or 458 Italia. Not even bigger or turbo, for Merc idiot's sake.
4. Therefore, I'm disappointed. Not about the performance, but about the lazy money making altitude - Take it or not. This is a Mercedes, can't be bad, and won't be the best. You think we are Ferrari?

just cuz mb didnt leak anything how do u know they didnt start developing the car years ago? you think autospies covers everything?.. car companies will let its readers know whatever they want and when they want. by the time ethis car comes out the design will be 5 years outdated. the looks have been around for so long. the lexus is will be due for another redesign and the lfa which the is philosophy was originally based on will be ancient... lol.... whats so exciting about a dated car????.. neways it is what it is... lexus just wants to beat the gtr but wants to maintain a luxury brand image.. at the price theyre charging they are lucky its only limited. no one would ever cross shop a high end porsche, ferrari or lamborghini with a lexus. i dont even know if cl-class owners would cross shop a lexus. neways...

nissan will still own this lexus regardless.. toyoda's probably sucking off the ceo and r&d of nissan to get some secrets on how to make a good, fast, "heavy"car.

Anthony, AFAIK Ferrari wasn't an offshoot of an economy car company that was mass produced. Ferrari built their legacy with a passion for exotic sports cars, whereas this Lexus reeks of "...hey, we should make one of those supercar thingies too, 'cuz we can!"

And before you bring Audi and the R8 into the discussion, first realize that it costs HALF of what the LF-A has been quoted..and they already had the S8 which hovered very close to $100k, if not more. Letalone didn't spend what seems like forever TALKING about it, they made it and it's winning awards left and right.

Are you serious? Do you know how much money, time an effort it takes to create and design a new engine from scratch? That AMG motor is a proven design that can be tweaked to ridiculous power outputs if desired. MB doesn't need to develop a new engine to satisfy morons such as yourself and their twisted logic of thinking.

Dated? This car is not even out so how can it be dated? Do you know exactly what it looks like? You might as well say that to MB since it's the one looking really really dated man.

So who would buy LF-A, FOCUS buyer? At that price it's simply those riches. Hell, if I can afford, I'll certainly cross shop between LF-A and 458 Italia, simply because of 9000 rpm redline. Everything else is secondary to me. Currently there's not even a Porsche within that tier since they stopped CGT. And that's because they are doing exactly same thing, sucking up easy money. Now that it's bought off by VW, the chance of CGT successor is even more slim.

But that's not gonna stop me from saving up for a Cayman, unless INFINITI or BMW come up w/ an MR.

This is what I said on another website when a Lexus dealer (hopefully not a fraud) began searching for customers.

"I was one of those serious buyers, but the price is just ridiculous. Through Lexus’ contacting us, is Lexus going to let us in to a little more about the vehicle? customizations? What is the car really going to prove? How much fun can I legally have on the streets? How much fun can the car take? How much restrictions does the car have? Does Lexus guarantee the vehicle’s exclusivity?

"Compared with Ferrari and particularly Porsche, how well does the LFA program fare? The problem is that during the whole time, I’ve been dreaming about a car that some would say, literally doesn’t exist. Maybe a few nice videos here and there and another proving the “F1 tech aren’t made for endurance racing,” but why would I, and the other customers, want the LFA? What would it offer us, and most importantly, what type of customers is Lexus looking for?"

I think I'm going back to my love for SUVs and opt for the LX 570 instead although I'm trying to stay conservative and just wait for the next generation model - my family is gonna start screaming when they find me throwing money at the Lexus dealer again. I'm currently driving the LX 470, and I hate how it won't give up; I want a new car! lol I'm a car nut. What can I say?
