Every time I see the XF, I wince at how horrible the headlights are. Looks like the geniuses at Ford designed it, rather than Jaguar. Maybe they did.

I agree with Maverick. I see the XF and immediately think Volvo S80 & Lincoln MKS....hardly unique for a Jaguar model. The overall dynamics of the vehicle is great, but the exterior designs from Ford's premium brands are quite horrid.

The first time I saw the front of this car I thought that exact thing. Ugly. Didn't the front of the concept look a little better?

ironically neither of the 2 cars you mention look anything alike, nor do they have much in common....which the XF isnt even remotely close to being related, or looking like the S80, or MKS again 3 cars that couldnt look more different

I wish Jag would make this Jaguar XF more like the concept vechicle that was showcase at the autoshow. The concept was just "Absolutely Stunning" The producation model headlights really mess it up, other than that, I love it.

Once again you must all be people who haven't seen the car in person. everyone that does changes their opinion. In person everything looks better.

Jag,
I have actually several of them where I live and work in Irvine, CA. Like I've said I love everything about this new Jag XF except it headlight.
I saw the Jag XF in black it was gorgeous, and another in dark/grayish color I belief which did the car no good.
But overall, it is a very beautiful car and definitely standout from the crowd.

I have to echo the sentiments of several others on this thread. The XF concept was stunning. The production version has lost quite a bit in translation–particularly in the design of the front end.

I hate the front end too. The headlights just bulge far too much - Ian Callum, the car's designer has a thing with 'odd' headlamps - look at the XK. They don't mesh with the rest of the design.

Look I haven't totally drunk all the cool aid. I understand some peoples opinion on the headlamps i personally like them. That being said. We all need to realize that the concept headlamps (as I have stated many times on this site) Are not of legal configuration according to EU rules. They have to emit a specific amount of lumens and they have to conform to a size requirement. Therefore they wouldn't work as is.
As well you all need to know that the XF was signed off on 1-1/2 years before the C-XF was designed. So hold on because I think the new XJ will head in the C-XF direction. Maybe even with the headlamps if they can figure how to make them legal.

Nothing wrong with the headlights, the XF is just sex on wheels. Take a look at a Merc E-class, Lexus GS, Audi A6 and BMW 5 series to see what ugly really looks like...
