BMW pulled this stunt about a decade ago with the release of the Z3. NM was selling a replica Z3 that was featured in the Bond movie Golden Eye.

It's not a stunt. BMW has done this with several cars. Lexus and other makes have also sold limited editions througn N.M.

BTW: The 7'er looks better in that picture than in the ones posted by 001 in the other article, but it's still pretty mellow!

The SC was the "Silver Belle" which was silver with a candy cane red interior. It was actually pretty nice looking.

The LS hybrid was a crappy "truffle" color.

Neiman Marcus edition cars are a waist of money... you usually spend thousands of dollars more to get a car 1 month early.

I could understand on a car like the M6 when it came out because there was a long wait list, but I don't think BMW is planning on limiting production on the 7-Series.

You get a trip. too. "Each automobile also includes an unforgettable European driving experience along the French Riviera. BMW is offering the 31 Neiman Marcus customers who purchase the vehicles an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime European adventure, in which they will be able to take delivery of the automobiles from the BMW Welt in Munich, Germany in April 2009 and then set off on a multi-city lavish vacation in the South of France. While enjoying BMW's home in Munich, participants will be granted rare insider access to BMW before embarking on a journey to Monaco, Nice and Cannes, during which they will be able to road test their new vehicles along the sumptuous French Riviera."

It may be a waste of money to you, but these cars usually sellout within the first 15 minutes.

Or you could just spend 90k on a 7-series, still pick it up in Munich and get the "rare" inside tour while you live in the BMW customer hotel and then afterwards go on an EXTREMELY lavish 70k tour of the Riviera... I've been to Munich to pick up a car with my brother (without paying a HUGE premium) and I've been to the Cote D'Azur ... And though it is a pretty expensive place, 70k will still get you quite a long way!

I'd rather just go the Cote d'Azur. Don't need to buy a hyper expensive 7er for that! Just spend 28 pounds on a flight to Nice, rent a car and tour around. No German car required.

Of course, the Riviera is a lot closer to me than it is to most people here :)

Wow...the Neiman Marcus Edition? Purchase a BMW and get a $500.00 gift certificate from there. I can't wait for the Mercedes "Macys edition".

Upon purchase, does the car come with shopping bags and Valet drivers that are there to kiss your ass for being an ass of purchasing the particular edition?

Everyone keeps missing fine print with this NM edition 7. Two first class tickets, 4 nights in a 5 star hotel, a tour of the BMW Welt, a driving tour with stops at famous German castles within the Black Forest, the list keeps going, all in all its a pretty fair price for the car and a German vacation.... The down side is once you finish your trip its 5 weeks for the car to get home....

How much is a 760Li with Individual package?! That is the most expensive BMW you can get... 80k-90k?! That still leaves 70k... That will buy you a pretty lavish Vacation in Germany and France! Trying to justify this car is silly... If you want to buy one, go ahead, but don't get fooled by the "Luxury vacation" you get... If anything was ever overpriced, this is it! And that is exactly the point! It is exclusive, expensive and full of those all-important bragging rights!
