Drivers of new midsize cars will take a big financial hit if they get into traffic accidents even at speeds as low as 3 mph, according to a new study.



A crash-test study of midsize cars showed that even at low speeds of up to 6 mph, the cheapest someone would have to pay to get their car fixed is about $871.

In addition, some vehicles repairs cost close to $3,000 after extremely low speed crashes, according to the study by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.

The problem is due to body shops labors being ridiculously over priced. Of course this isn't just a body shop thing, it's across the board for anything involving "professional" labor in the US. Every idiot contractors/subcontractors automatically feels they deserve and charges $80-120 per hour just like the big shops.

My car was recently involved in a low speed hit and run (parallel parking) and my repair bill is $2K. Luckily I've got witnesses and a license plate and make and model. I DESPISE people who don't respect other people's property.
