Lutz call for the removal of camo on production Camaros
Hours after new spy shots of the camo covered Camaro hit the web earlier this morning, Bob Lutz has called for the removal of the camouflage on all pre-production Camaros to allow for further testing.

Chevrolet General Manager posted an article earlier today on GM’s FastLane Blog saying: “Word has come down from Bob Lutz to remove the camo from the pre-production...

why did they still have camo on them anyways? It's not like we haven't seen this car for the last 2 year.

That was the concept, this is the actual production car. Hard to tell the difference huh? :)

Anyone using camo makes me wonder what design flaws they are trying to hide.

Did you look at the interior of the concept at all?? Its pretty close to the spy shot. Plus, the spy shot is only of a test mule. Things on the dash could either be covered up or simply missing.

I have been reading about Chevy's plan to reinvent the Camaro since Ford introduced the idea about a reinvented Mustang oh-so many years ago. With the Mustang now getting long in the tooth, the Sky/Solstice not generating a whole heck of a lot of emotion and the T-bird having been a monumental disaster altogether, all I can say to GM (and Chrysler and its planned 'cuda or whatever other designations they Xerox onto the sheetmetal) is "too late to the party."

I have got to say, Chevy really knows how to kill a buzz. When the prototype Camaro came out, even I was looking forward to seeing it come to market, I might have test driven a Camaro convertible myself since I used to drool over the restored 1960's Camaro drop. That was over 2 years ago, they really failed to take advantage of the momentum driven by the initial prototype. No one even talks about it anymore, Ford and Dodge pulled the trigger much faster. I don't really hear anyone talk about the new Camaro any more but I hope it has one of those really good interiors GM has been producing and some serious HP.

I'm looking forward to the new Camaro although I prefer the Challenger. I think it looks better than the concept. It's about time the Mustang has some competitors. The more choices, the better. Now, if manufacturers can make them affordable, and economical, yet powerful, I think they will be popular. How about a turbo V6?

i think the real thing looks better than the concept. i don't prefer the interior of either though. i don't think i would've approved the mini-television gauges.

negatives aside, i'm glad to see this thing finally come to fruition. i haven't liked the camaro since the 70's.

motortrend has the pictures in this article, plus some pictures of the g8 in sedan, wagon, and "ute'".
