Why is this article labeled from 1 to 10 and not 10 to 1? First day in automotive journalism?

Besides the top of the line Cayenne, Porsche doesn't top 100,000 and they don't list the GT on the MSN site either.

Who cares, BMW probably payed for some losers to click on the 7 series several thousand times. JK. But still, nothing that makes the BMW a better. No Bugatti Veyron even in the database?

Yeah, the Europeans owned that list. I wonder what the 7-Series is doing in first place? I thought the S-Class sold more internationally. Is this list for the US market?

BMW was first on the list because its the cheapest of those cars. Generally you don't find 750's on a dealer lot anywhere near a hundred grand whereas the S Class is routinely a hundred thousand bucks. It probably shouldn't even be on the list.

This title is so misleading!

They aren't the 10 MOST POPULAR-- they're merely 10 POPULAR cars over $100K!

If they were the ten most popular, wouldn't you think the Continental GT family would be on there?

And the 760Li wouldn't even be close to the top of the list; that goes for the W12 too!

I just got back from a three week trip to Europe. The S-Class is a huge success. They are everywhere. A8's and 7's seem to be battling for second. What is interesting is you do see many moreA8's in Europe. I was in Monte Carlo for the yacht show, which Mercedes sponsered. They had two new CL's there. Anyone who thinks this car looks good in pictures will be blown away when they see it in person. It is stunning. It stopped traffic in a town where there are more Ferraris than Toyotas. I always thought of Mercs as being a bit stoggy but this one is sitting on the top of my list when the lease runs out on my A8.

don't forget most of the s classes here are taxis (expensive taxis, but still a taxi), with 320 cdi engines.

and if you were in monte carlo, its no wonder. all the hotels have them.

iown1,

I feel the same way about the CL. It's a stunning car and I am thinking of replacing my 530i with a new CL500 in a few years. I'm reaching that age where I want something comfortable and sporty at the same time. The new CL seems to take care of these desires and much more. Stunning car.

BMW 5301

The A8 is great and I enjoyed having a big sedan, however 98.5% of the time I drive myself so the extra space goes unused. The new CL seems much bigger than the out going model but I haven't compared specs yet. If I have the need to be driven, I can always call a car service. Unlike most GTs, the back seat can actually fit two real sized adults. I wish I'ld taken pictures. In black it's about the handsomest car I've ever laid eyes on.

It's unbelievable.

Look at that, too!

BMW530i,

I'M at the age where I need something that makes me smile no matter where I am! That's why, when I'm tired of my S4, I'll get my dream car: a Porsche 911 (I can't choose between the Targa/Targa S and C4 cabrio/C4 cabrio S).

Just for those of you that don't realize this list is purely based on the amount of users on MSN Autos clicking the link for these car's.

BTW that's one of the worse hater comments made by Chewy, it even tops comments made by serious BMW fans to Audi fans!

BMW is not a luxury car people. You have got to be kidding. They are a sporty car yes. They are not a luxury car. Everyone who is into luxury knows that.

Remember the BMW-supplied stat that said 75% of luxury car buyers ignore BMW? You guys said, that's because they're not really a luxury car. You were right.

A lot of you have a narrow view of the auto industry. BMW is a leader in performance but that's it--they are 1-dimensional. In your world they're a luxury car because most of you don't know what the luxury category really is all about.

I agree with your comment 100%, but wouldn't you say the 7 Series is a LITTLE luxurious?

But yes, BMW is a very one-dimensional company, just as you said. They don't offer a very complete package; you have to really want the performance.

As much as i Love BMWs, They have nothing on MB when it comes to Luxury and Gadgets that Pamper their Owners/Drivers.

Sure, the 7 has luxury features, which is how BMW brings up luxury. They have said flat out, we don't want to be a luxury car, because luxury means ultra-comfortable and a rounded presentation where people want to feel relaxed more often than excited.

There are a few BMW fans who think their car wins on every point in every conversation, including the luxury game, when it doesn't and isn't meant to.

BMWs are expensive sports cars with leather. Label that premium or whatever suits. Their suspensions are not tuned to the luxury buyer, their interior quality is not up to par. They're not even status cars for luxury people. Everyone knows BMWs are for men who never grew up. BMW owns the curves but not the valet.

crackityjones-

I wouldn't say that BMWs lack prestige. I've seen many-a-760Li (with an RS6 next to it) parked in front of hotels and exquisite restaurants. I've also seen my car parked in front of a restaurant... but this is infuriating. Another man with another S4 Cabriolet who came to the restaurant (what are the odds of that?) paid the valet to move my car and park his much less interesting black one in front! However, he did get custom exhausts and a nice semi-racy bodykit, but it's still nowhere near as beautiful as my Sprint Blue number. The car just doesn't look special in any colors except yellow, Sprint Blue and Brilliant Red.

It's always good to start up a friendly controversy. Whether it's 10 Most popular or 10 popular you were going to click it regardless =P. Sorry for the mislead but I notice this brought some fun topics of discussion.

I believe Bentley should be in this too if Maybach gets to be on this list. It's funny now MSN forgets the E55, E63, CLS, and etc for being popular cars. IMO they are outstanding. Cars of that nature should be put on.
