As the whole world awaits, Maserati is ramping up its efforts to hit that 50,000 unit sales figure for 2015. It's got a bit of work to do though it's been very impressive to watch the automaker more than DOUBLED with more than 15,000 units moved.

Just think, the Ghibli hasn't even really made its splash in the U.S. yet.

The BIG car we're waiting for though is its sport-utility vehicle, the Levante. We're thinking it will closely follow the form of the Kubang concept seen at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Why, you ask? Well, if you look closely at the Kubang, it seems to echo the design of the Ghibli with a touch of Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q5 blended in its design. Now if the famed Italian marque can get its resale values in check, it may just get plenty of buyers interested and hit its forecast. Granted, it may be a bit behind schedule.

The latest news emerging from Geneva, thanks to Sergio Marchionne, is that production will begin in 2015. I'd assume that means we'll actually see the product on our shores in the first half of 2016 if Marchionne's words stay true.

Maserati's performance last year was encouraging, with trading profit tripling as deliveries more than doubled to 15,400 vehicles.

Though still a long way short of its 50,000 target for 2015, and not enough on its own to transform Fiat's bottom line, analysts have said that Maserati's increased profit bodes well for the forthcoming resurrection of the higher-volume Alfa Romeo brand.

"We are getting Mirafiori ready for production (of the Maserati SUV). The first bodies are expected for 2015," Marchionne said on the sidelines of the Geneva auto show...
