Mazda Follows Toyota's Lead, and Extends Rotory Warranties to 100K
For those of you that thought Toyota did the right thing extending warranties on select vehicle engine, it seems the good will is rubbing off this time to Mazda.

Mazda Motor Corporation has extended the warranty coverage on Rotary Engine relased in 2004-2008 model year vehicles.

The warranty coverage for the core components is extended to 8 years, with a 100,000 mileage limitation. If repairs have already been performed preceding the warranty extension Mazda has offered to reimburse the owner fro some of these costs.

It is possible the car makers are trying to spread good Karma in an effort to keep brand loyalty up, but no matter what the motive is, we can all agree it is the right thing to do.

One of these days, 009 is going to shock us, and actually create a headline with no spelling or grammar errors. Until then, let's once again correct him; r-o-t-A-r-y.

Many people know that Toyota never made the rotary engine and was invented by a german man who didn't even learn to drive. and the concept was sold to mazda.

Many people don't know that Toyota and Honda copied everything from the Germans. As of today they continue to produce cheap imitations of the great German originals.

Wow! I didn't know the Tundra was actually a copied from the Germans. OH! What about the Prius? Which one of those German cars did the Prius copy? What about he Honda Civic? Which German car inspired the dominating Civic? I'm sure the Honda FCX Clarity is a direct copy of....hmmm??..Psst?.. Star!.. which German company?

Mazda still pays Audi for every rotary engine the build! NSU owns the patent and Audi owns NSU.

Not everything was copied from Germany.
Lets review the facts:

Japanese trucks are smaller copies of American trucks.
The PRIUS is based on Diesel-Electric submarine technology from World-War-1 (German)
The Civic, going back to 1965 or so, was inspired by the Mini (England) and that funny-looking 3-wheeled car (German?)

The head of International Trade of a large Asian country told me personally that "North America and Europe are the directors, and we in Asia are simply the actors."

Interpret that as you wish.

wrong.

japanese mini-trucks go back to the 1930s. their rough equivalent of american large pickups were more like medium duty stake-side trucks.
they've always had FAR MORE efficient trucks for their domestic market. why would they copy inferior designs?

the japanese p/u trucks sold today, are evolutions of the original mini-trucks, upsized and (yes, with titan and tundra) modeled after full size american trucks. just FOR the american market.

japanese trucks sold elsewhere are the evolved, upsized versions of their original mini-pickups.

if anything, the DOMESTIC compact trucks COPIED THE JAPANESE. and they're poor copies at that. NO ONE has ever matched the Hilux/Tacoma as an efficient, tough, and durable workhorse; even the nissan only comes close.

the Civic DID NOT copy euro designs either. they evolved from honda's original TWO-cylinder, fwd microcars. upsized for the american market.

honda also invented/perfected Variable Valve Timing, which every other maker of modern engines, INCLUDING THE GERMANS, copied with their own version and nomenclature.

You're close.
But American small trucks started out not as copies of Japanese trucks, but as re-badged Japanese trucks.
The Japanese trucks had engines that would go forever (it seemed, back when American iron died at 100,000 miles) but the rest of the vehicles left a lot to be desired.

OH and one more thing...

Synergy Hybrid: Gas-Electric.. Inspired by Diesel-Electric technology from WWI? That explaines why Toyota hasn't come out with a Diesel-Electric yet.

Honda Civic (4 Wheels): Inspired by the (3 Wheel) Mini.. I get it! I really do..NOT!

Actually, pre-World War I and some World War I submarines were powered by gasoline-electric systems. I believe the British used this but eventually changed to diesel-electric due to the easy flammability of gasoline fuel onboard a submarine given all the electrical interferences and sparks...

It's too bad that, German make great cars, but fail to allows other brand(japs for that matter) to just simply make it better. Ohhh and by the way japs actually make profit, oppose to German makes they may sell alot but barely get by in making money. German brands are on a very thin line....thanks to our U.S. Economy v.s the Euro, or pound for that matter. So I guess German brands are the first to show how to sell alot and not make much at all...LMAO!!!

So why is that funny? People here are more affected by the bad economic situation than the European car manufacturers that sell on this market are, since the car manufacturers can still make huge profits by selling cars in the rest of the world. Would you like the economy here to get so bad that the Germans could not sell cars in US? Would that make you completely happy?
You do understand that when foreign businesses leave a market that's a really bad sign for the economy in that country, do you? Oh, how funny that is...

it's FUNNY because the ARROGANT, uppity germans will be getting a COMEUPPANCE long overdue! (as will their non-uber rich fan boys.)

detroit took a beating since the 1980s from the reasonably priced, but technically far superior and far more RELIABLE japanese competition.
they swallowed their pride, LEARNED from the japanese, and now are able to compete almost head to head.

in the process, they also slingshot PAST the euro brands in reliability. and value.

on the other hand,
the euro brands have felt the SAME PAIN vs. the japanese competition. MAGNIFIED since lexus, infiniti and acura entered the market.

unlike the americans however, they were TOO PROUD to learn from ANYBODY. (except to the degree they could also cash in on americans' desire for SUVs.)

the euro brands have always suffered from pricing handicaps (thru no fault of theirs, thanks to the steady decline of the dollar). they've managed to get around that, by justifying the high prices with INTANGIBLES like "tradition," "prestige," "magic feel," etc.

NOW they will be forced to price their wares even higher. and more people are going to ask, "Are those cars REALLY worth what they're asking?" especially considering they trail both the asians, AND the american brands in reliability.

unless the dollar/euro ratio changes slow or reverse recent trends, there WILL be shrinking bottom lines for euro brands.

MAYBE for a change, they'll set aside pride and LEARN from the asians AND americans. if not, then yes, it WILL BE sorta FUNNY.

"can still make huge profits by selling cars in the rest of the world. "

the u.s. market absorbs roughly HALF of all foreign car makers exports. give or take.

yes, they'll still make profits. but NOWHERE as much.

BigShow50 (what were you smoking when you wrote this) "japs actually make profit, oppose to German makes they may sell alot but barely get by in making money. German brands are on a very thin line.."

When Nissan went bankrupt they were bought by who? A "Jap" company? no ... do you remember? ..... Answer: Renault (that's in France, not Japan).
As for German vs. American ... VW makes more profit in a month than ALL American manufacturers Combined for a YEAR!
I think they're in 2nd place behind Toyota globally.

Please, consider the facts before day-dreaming "out loud" :)

Lets see ... the 2-cylinder Civic appeared about 1965.
The Austin Mini in 1959.
So .... Austin copied Honda then? with a time-machine?
