Mazda6 will be unveiled in April, hybrid is not on the agenda yet
Mazda’s CEO Jim O’Sullivan said that the company will show the new redesigned Mazda6 in April at dealer meetings in Denver. Mazda will also show other products at the meeting but said that hybrids and alternative-fuel cars are not on the agenda as of yet.
Mazda also said today that it will boost its marketing budget. Rob Strasberg, who is responsible for the MINI launch and the Volkswagen ‘Unpimp Your Auto’ and ‘Safety’ campaigns, will join Mazda’s agency Doner Advertising as chief creative officer. Strasberg comes from Crispin Porter + Bogusky, where he was creative director.
“Rob is coming in at a good time because the brand has made headway and is poised to make a move,” said Tim Blett president of Doner’s automotive division.

Let's hope that it deviates as little as possible from the Euro version.

This breaks my heart, DaHarder is right, I pray that the US version of this car doesn’t disappoint us as much as the UK to US version of the Ford Focus does. Gosh, Ford should really listen up to what people are wanting… Why is FoMoCo now forcing Mazda to make the same mistake that they constantly make? Mazda has always sold their worldwide “car” models in the US albeit missing some minor options. These folks at Mazda make great cars and the only reason why they aren’t any bigger here in the US is directly attributed to FoMoCo’s tight noose on Mazda’s US advertising budget. I get this funny feeling, that no matter how close the new US version Mazda6 looks and feels, it won’t be as good as it’s Euro counterpart. The part that really scares me is that Ford might just re-badge the Fusion/Milan/MKS. Arg!!

Somebody mentioned in order for Ford to survive they need to import their foreign/Euro models. I guess the new 6 is a start.

Hopefully they won't jump on the hybrid hypewagon; leave that to the companies whose cars are so boring they need that gimmick to get attention.

I love the styling of the Euro model. I know that they didnt make it but slightly larger than before but I was hoping for it to be Camry sized or at least Malibu sized to better compete.

Is that the European model? I hope they don't change the US version. It looks good.

This new Mazda 6 is based on the old one not the Mondeo in Europe. No Ford of Europe stuff until 2011 according to Automotive News. That is a shame because I have rented many Ford products in Europe and they are nice cars, nicer than any Mazda or FORD available here.

From what I've read thus far, the USDM 6 is going to be different from the rest of world--meaning it will probably suck and be devoid of any of cool options that probably are available in the 3rd world market overseas. Hey, what else is new?

I am a former 1992 Mazda 626 owner many years ago, i thought it was pretty good running car for first 2-3 years but thereafter it turned into putz.
To me, the interior noise level was too high and very sluggishly slow.
It didn't have solid Japanese car feel at all, rather it had that Ford product line gene to it. Noisy, weak 4 cylinders and 3 years lifespan and downhill from there on.
I do believe however the new Mazda/Ford has improved.

I'm not a big fan of the new model. I have seen many on the streets. My cousin has the previous generation which looks better but the quality is terrible.
