Mercedes 44MPG F700 saloon concept
Mercedes’ major new concept car for the Frankfurt Motor Show is the new F700 design study, a luxurious touring sedan showcasing a raft of new technologies that will eventually make its way to the carmaker’s production models. The most exciting feature is the new DiesOtto powerplant, a four-cylinder petrol engine with the consumption benefits of a diesel. Consumption figures for the 5.18m long concept saloon is an amazing 44.3mpg (5.3L/100km) and this equates to a correspondingly low emissions rating of just 127g of CO2/km.

The engine is mated to a new hybrid starter/generator system and a seven-speed auto, which sees the car accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds.

I really do see what you're saying (I'm imagining the Lexus logo there), but it keeps with the vehicle's design much more than the SC430, which has an elegant front end but tubby rear. The rear looks much better on a large sedan, as well as with these form-fitting taillamps.

The rear lip spoiler is similar alright, but if you look at photo's of both the rest is different. Definitely has a resemblance of it though.

No thanks MB, but I want to see a Diesotto hybrid in a Ocean Drive 4 door sedan.
