Mercedes Ad: Unlike Any Other
The “Unlike any other” slogan is currently used in many, if not all, Mercedes ads in the US. Here is a particularly interesting and cool ad that uses that slogan to inform you about the unique cars. The slogan and the overall look of the current Mercedes mirror the cars – having a luxurious and prestige feel to them. It might be time to change things up and at least advertise the sporty/AMG models to a younger audience with a different creative approach.

What is fascinating is the William Shakespeare signature; it looks like a five year old did it.

I don't get it. Why can't they release intelligent ads like Toyota or Lexus?

You never will David. You're a stupid Lexus fanboy who can't appreciate originality like this Mercedes ad which displays the signatures of some of the greatest minds in history in vain, you bawdy, boil-brained, boar-pig.

unlike toyota and lexus, mercedes aren't bought on marketing hype.

lexus spends 4x more on marketing than mercedes and sells its cars for many thousands less in order to compete with mercedes. these are facts, not opinions.

I have to admit that I think this advertisement is just ridiculous in its transparency. Its message which is generated via association is just ludicrous in how blatant it is. There is nothing subtle or deep about it- not that other car advertisements are particularly weighty either. In fact, in a relative sense, there is a bit more erudition required for this advertisement.

In the end it is simple non sequitur. Of course, I don’t think I could effectively argue that marketing is anything but non sequitur for the most part.
