Mercedes B-Class Headed to America
Mercedes-Benz’s U.S. portfolio is about to grow—by adding a small car. According to Bloomberg, the next version of the B-Class compact crossover is being designed for sale in the U.S.
Available in Europe since 2005, the B-Class is due for a makeover in 2011 or 2012. Previous attempts to alter the current car for U.S. sale were nixed for cost reasons, but the new car is being designed for global sale from day one. This process lowers cost, allowing the B-Class to build a better business case.

I hate the B-class. It has no real Mercedes soul in it. To me it feels like a quick product they made to fill the whole between the A-class and C-class. I really don't like it at all. The interior is a mess too.
I hope Americans will not like it.

I wrote it off even though I like its surprising roominess and fit and finish. What I hate about it is its dreaded CVT and lack of a more powerful engine (preferably diesel).

Well actually you can get the B200 Turbo, a pretty good engine (but no match for the VAG TFSI engines) and it makes the B pretty swift too.

The B-Klasse is perfectly fine. It serves the need of those for whom an A-Klasse is too small and sporty. The interior is also perfectly fine from a material and build quality perspective. We sell many B-Klassen and the owners are very happy with them.
Selling them in America is a bad move however in my opinion.

I disagree. I've been inside a B-class and A-class numerous times and those two cars have the worst interiors of all Mercs. It just looks very bland.

this car reminds me of the honda frv (jdm edix). this would make an unclear line-up for the USDM MB as most ppl would think this would be amusing for MB USA. havent seen this in reality but heard it was FWD.

FWD cars are crap. I am glad my favorite company sticks to RWD cars all the way. Only the best for Lexus.

We get the Fr-V in Europe, but I don't think it sells well.
And yes, the B class is FWD.
David, you know the RX can be ordered with FWD? And the ES is FWD only?
Moron.

mite I add tht all BMWs are pretty much RWD and AWD. I like Lexus, but they don't offer as much vehicles like MB, BMW, Audi, etc.

The Lexus ES is RWD. Stop kidding yourself. Lexus wouldn't lower themselves to the embarrasing level of making a FWD car. Let German companies do that.

I must be living in a cave, cause last time I checked, the last 4 generations including the first gen and the current Lexus ES was, has been, and still is a FWD. May be Lexus has a RWD ES on sale tomorrow that no one know of, WAKE UP.

David you should seriously shut up. The ES is FWD, there is no RWD ES. You say they're your favorite car brand and yet you know nothing about them. Think before you start yappin cause you make us Lexus owners look like fools.

You utterly retarded and ignorant stupid little kid.
The ES model is a Camry so it means it has FRONT wheels drive. Just like the RX FWD. Even the RX AWD is FWD in normal driving situations.
Tosser!!

That has to be a mistake on the Lexus website. Maybe some programmer made a mistake.

No David the es is only FWD I know I am a mechanic, it is based on the Toyota camry as the RX is based on the same platform as the highlander, which is also based onthe Camry. All others are Rear Wheel drive. Both share the same 3.5l with the camry.

Funny, last time I checked, Canada was part of North America and we've had the B-Class for a couple of years.

The Japanese seem to have the whole hatchback market. I mean, you can't honestly retort to the fact that this looks like a last-gen Civic Si with Mercedes badging.

Shipping this to America is most certainly a bad move, specially for their image. But if they insist, then why not also ship some of their V6 models over here as well? SL350, CLS350 etc.
