and what it shows is that european cars have such extraordinary residual values that smart people can't help but lease them. ; )

^^ True. They can't compete value wise with Asian cars so they subsidize them with crazy lease residuals and money factors. At least that way they can try and build brand loyalty and maybe get you in next time to buy something. I looked at an BMW X5 last month. Residual was 60% on 36 months. No way it would be worth that much as a trade in. Ya do the numbers and you are almost forced to lease it. Unfortunately it was still $950/month for this $70k X5. A comparably equiped MDX was $650 a month without a crazy residual. I don't get it. You gotta really see value in the brand itself not just the metal.

that's the OLD C-class, and it tops the list because dealers are giving them away with the new ones out now. The new C-class lease is crazy expensive, I have a buddy who works at Mercedes.

You must be self-employed, no?

I'm a real estate agent.

I work for a Broker, but the IRS sees me as self employed.

Tommorrow I'll be at the Anaheim Convention Center for the California Real Estate Expo 2007.

I know agents that lease Mercedes, Bentleys and Lamborghinis.

the title of this thread is misleading. That's not a list of the most popular NEW leases for September, it is a list of the most popular vehicles ALREADY LEASED for people to swap into or out of on LeaseTrader.com.

Exactly JRobUSC. To me this is more indicitive of the fact that people are out there who want to get out of these car leases, and are able to find new suckers by giving them incentives to take over their lease.

Leases on entry level luxury cars (especially euro makes) is a no brainer for most consumers. They get the badge, styling, etc. for the price of buying an entry level Accord/Camry. The only thing the C230 lacks is performance, with a 0-60 of 7.9...with the manaul...otherwise a nice car.

And when a new model comes out they can trade in their lease for the new car :)

And if their loyal to the brand (which I'm sure you meant) and there's a few lease payments left, usually those can be waived and they'll get you right into a new car. I almost leased a C230 (looked at a IS250 as well). I decided to choose both ownership and performance over luxury and leasing...because another $1200 in my car and I've got 300hp! :p

C230 sport is a nice value, solid and a AMG package makes this a #1 choice and i can see why.

Maybe because they were offering $50 lease deals?

I'd rather have the new C300... or a C350... or a 335i... or an S4.

Due to immense pressure from who else Lexus the germans can't compete head to head they have to resort to buying business to keep market share. The only problem is you can't do this for ever, sooner or later you have to make some money.Of course if your a consumer it' doesn't matter to you if the MFG> makes money or not,so you lease the car because it has a chicken foot on the hood.
