Mercedes-Benz Posts Record Sales in First Seven Months of 2007
Stuttgart - With deliveries of 103,700 passenger vehicles in July, the Mercedes Car Group has slightly increased its sales result compared to the same month last year (102,300 units). Since the beginning of the year, 721,400 units of the Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, and smart brands have been sold all over the world (January-July 2006: 729,600 units). Sales of Mercedes-Benz vehicles rose slightly in July 2007 to 93,800 units (July 2006: 92,700 units). Deliveries of Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles rose to 669,500 units from January through July, setting a new record (January-July 2006: 658,000).
In the luxury segment, Mercedes-Benz remains the market leader with a clear edge over its competitors: In July, sales in this segment increased by 13 percent to a new record of 9,200 units.
The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is also continuing its very positive development. Since the beginning of the year, 136,300 E-Class vehicles have been sold, five percent more than in the same period of 2006.

That's pretty pathetic. Look how many cars Toyota sells! Or Lexus.

What is pathetic is that you compare a toyota to a Mercedes. Entirely different price point and vehicle. Toyota is a great car don't get me wrong but of course they will sell more when their median price range is in the 30k's.

Toyota looks even more pathetic compared to how many VW cars are sold every year. Lexus is far away from being number one on the global market. Is US market goes down, Lexus is dead.

Aren't Most of Lexus's sales the RX anyway? I sure bet the Mercedes E class and S class outsell the Lexus GS and LS by a wide margin!

Actually, mbz350, their average transaction price is probably in the low $20,000s- maybe even less.

Correct me if I'm wrong, rg12345, but isn't Toyota the number one selling automaker in the world?

Though Toyota will be the No. 1 automaker by the end of the year, GM retook that title in the Second quarter thanks to strong global sales (read: China)and made a profit too.

With Chrysler out of MB, then I guess MB CAN NOW really concentrate on their product line and be the brand that it was known for. Way to go
