Mercedes will not offer an AMG version of the GLK
Mercedes’ high-performance tuning AMG division will not be producing a monster version of the upcoming GLK. According to Volker Mornhinweg, two SUV’s are sufficient enough to receive the AMG badging.

“There is no space for a third SUV” Mornhinweg said in an interview with Autotelegraaf. ”We are now simply going to offer the AMG-program to sedans, cabrios, roadsters and...

I only want the 2.2 litre diesel version. VW Tiguan will launch with a diesel. I'm waiting to see who has the more comfortable seats. My wife does not like the boxy look of the GLK. A new contender on my shopping list is the Infiniti EX which, unlike many small SUVs, can be ordered with an 8-way power front passenger seat -- this is a must for me as SUVs without front passenger seat height adjustment are difficult for me to get in and out of without banging my head on the roof. The Toyota Venza should also be looked at by people who can wait for it to make production and the North American market.

GLK or is it a modified Subaru Forester. Thank the lord Mercedes isnt offering that ugly duckling an AMG package.

ENN .. My client has the Infiniti EX and it is an okay car. It is smaller than either the X3 or GLK. It reminds me of an allroad by audi. station wagon meets SAV.

The EX is really a sport wagon or an All-road, it has really watered down the SAV as much as possible, but it should sell well.

Its not that it doesnt deserve the badge...its that...the engine that AMG have does not fit the car as its too small....AMG has one engine that fits it in all MB's .....and unfortunatly the GLK is too small for that...and AMG wont spend another $10 million dollars for research just for one car....soo they would just go like ''it doesnt deserve the badge''...thats crap!!...

....and the "G" isn't ugly? I'm sure the decision is related more to "marketing ability" rather than perceived beauty or ugliness. Mercedes seems to be reining in the AMG badge after years of affixing the AMG badge on everything that Mercedes builds. I also agree that the 6.2 "fit all" may be just too much for a 170" mini-truck.
