Mercedes working on production Ocean Drive concept
While the ending of the video says ‘whether this study goes into series production is an open question,’ one must think why Mercedes-Benz put so much work on creating a driving and working model of the Ocean Drive Concept.

It’s been reported before that Mercedes-Benz has given the Ocean Drive Concept, a four-door S-Class Convertible, the green light for production. Power is expected to come from a 5.5 liter V8 producing 510-hp with the range topper getting V12 producing up to 550-hp. A 6.2 liter AMG that produces 604-hp is also on the drawing board.

This is an unconfirmed report of old unconfirmed news.

Mercedes-Benz will again start another trend in the automotive industry in 4 door convertibles. Just as it did with 4 door coupes.

It will be very exciting to see the production Ocean Drive (name is unlikely) with the top down in Ocean Drive, Miami Beach :)

Isn't the Audi A7 being offer as a convertible? And I also think it'll be out before the Benz. I still prefer the Benz though.

The name is definitely a concept name. It will follow the traditional mb monikers and be tagged something like "S600 Cabriolet" or something along those lines.

I can absolutely tell you that this car is a big buzz among my upper eschelon customers. It's going to be an absolutely stunning car--among the likes the old classic 500K.

"It seems that Mercedes cannot design beautiful cars anymore. The current S class is a styling disaster IMO.
"

What ludicrous a comment

Try being a little bit more biased if you could, please. Have you legally changed your name to Lexus? If not, you should...it's such a beautiful word...

No MT, the lexus looks just regular and plain. It doesn't catch the eye. It is conservative, so how can it be a styling icon? Hell the SC will turn more heads than the ls. It's not ugly to me but by no means does it have any styling breakthroughs. It's okay to have lexus as your favorite car manufacturer, but you are displaying a level of ignorance beyond a retarded kid. (no offense intended to anyone with mentally handicapped children)

Loser: Daimler-Benz paid $37 billion to acquire the moneymaking Chrysler Corporation in 1998. After chasing away talent, cheapening the cars, and annoying dealers, Daimler then flicked the money-losing operation onto Cerberus Capital Management, a private equity firm named for the three-headed, flesh-eating hound that guards the gates of Hell. The price? A measly $7.4 billion cash payment toward Chrysler’s vast debt, which includes $18 billion in unfunded pension and healthcare obligations. Before it could declare all quiet on the western front, Daimler had to pay $650 million out of pocket as part of the deal to cover ongoing losses at Chrysler.

I don't know if you could cheapen the cars any more than they were before Daimler merged with them. Just because they merged doesn't mean Daimler did this. Chrysler chose to use cheap interior and inferior designs, not Daimler. Hell they helped with giving chrysler the crossfire, only thing is that after seing the quality of the crossfire, naive car shoppers probably expected the same from other chrysler products. I mean look at the interior of the charger. LAME, and it's a shame because it is such a nice car on the outside.
