More Honda NSX Spy Photos
If you think this looks like an Honda S2000 that’s been in the TV show Pimp my Ride, you're absolutely correct. Except this car is pimped by Honda themselves to hide the new Honda NSX underneath. While the old NSX was a mid-engined car, the new one will get a 5.0 liter V10 under its front hood, although highly improbably that this S2000 mule is equipped with such.

This mule was spotted while driving around at the Nürburgring for some high-speed testing. When it comes to testing their own super sports cars, the Japanese car manufacturers' benchmark car of choice is the Porsche 997 Turbo. Toyota uses it with the LF-A, Nissan with the GT-R and now also Honda with the new NSX. These three car manufacturers are fighting for bragging rights in Japan for this market segment, but more importantly, credibility in the rest of the world.

How did they stretch an S2000 over the new NSX platform? That computer-generated image needs to go though, or at least the front-end. That front-end should stay exclusive to the Honda sedan family, not the exotic NSX.

And how funny is it that the new NSX will have stacked exhausts?

I'm still not impressed with this computer image interpretation, but its much better looking than the concept vehicle.

It looks to me to be a mid-engined design, rather than front. The occupants are further forward in the cabin than possible for a front engine, and the wheelbase stretch is behind them, giving room for the engine there.
Just my observation.

Oh and it's going to have a 5.5liter V10,not a 5.0 liter V10

formula1, are you saying that the NSX wasn't a good sports car?! No, it didn't keep up with the level of sports cars developed 10-15 years newer, but it was an amazing car. Honda had said that this new NSX will be as revolutionary as the first one was, yet I don't see anything amazing yet. Such a shame that it doesn't seem like it will live up to the reputation of the first one.

This is a horrible photoshop, and I'm disappointed in Honda that they're not going to stay true to what the NSX should be (a light, mid-engined GT), but at least it's coming back... right?

I don't know. It seems to me that the R8 has taken the original NSX's market and has run away with it- same mid-engined, great performing, luxurious sports car that the NSX should have been. Audi has just spent a ton of time hyping and marketing their car, and it's worked- the hype is backed by substance. Honda/Acura just didn't try hard enough to market this car in the first place, but the substance was there.
