When was that? 1992-1996? Its almost 2009 and they haven't done squat since. Seems as thought they forgot how to, or the folks who designed the "MKIV Supra" are long gone.

Amazonprince, how do you know the LF-A will be a success? Lexus makes nice cars, but it has never really set the benchmark for any segment it competes in. You could argue the RX did set the benchmark for car based SUV's, but it has been surpassed by the X5, MDX, and others. The IS-F was a decent first attempt at a high performance car, but it has consistently been ranked behind the M3.

Lexus should make their core products great first before going to compete with the big boys like Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Lamborghini.

Building an expensive car doesn't earn respect. I would have more respect for Lexus if they developed performance orientated vehicles that most of their customers or potential customers could afford. For example, make the IS350 a true sport sedan by ditching the automatic and doing some suspension tuning. During my last car purchase (Nov. 2006), I didn't even consider a Lexus because they don't make cars that an enthusiast would be interested in. Just because they have the LF-A halo car still wouldn't make me consider them. They need to develop their real product line further (IS-F is a step in the right direction).

I still don't see the market for this supercar either. In the $200,000 range, you could have the following:
1) Porsche GT2: The 911 is a legend and the number of races it has won over the decades is unbeatable.
2) Ferrari 430: Mid-engined supercar from a company that is near dominant in F1 and has produced some of the best supercars of all time. This is where my (pretend) money would go.
3) Aston Martin DB9: A beautiful GT car. Aston does have racing heritage and how could you go wrong with a car that makes you feel like James Bond every time you drive it?
4) Lambo Gallardo: A true V10 exotic from the company that defines exotic cars (Countach, Diablo, etc.).
5) Merc SL/CL65 AMG: While they don't have the exotic styling of the others, these are perfect everyday drives for someone who wants extreme power.
I just don't see how Lexus can compete in this crowd based upon performance, styling, and heritage. For me, the LF-A
