More details surface on the 2010 Ford Taurus
Spies have recently caught the 2010 Ford Taurus and the car looks very much like the grainy picture that was leaked on the internet back in April. MotorTrend says that the 2010 Ford Taurus will carry some of design elements of from Ford of Europe’s “kinetic design” styling, but will be a little more toned down than the Mondeo integrating some design elements from current stateside vehicles.

It was previously reported that the next-generation Ford Mondeo, which will see a few design changes to incorporate the new Fiesta style, will be rebadged and sold in the U.S. as a Taurus.

The 2010 Ford Taurus is expected to stay front-wheel-drive with...

why dont they just bring the mondeo statside, thats what GM is doing with holdens and opels. The top gear boys love the mondeo for its performance and economy. If they modify it for the us to the point of other transplants then dont bother.

If Ford did that they would destroy Honda and Toyota and we wouldn't want that to happen ;-)

OK...let me get this right. Fords EcoBoost engine will produce 340hp and 340lb/ft tq ...AND... get 20%better fuel economy? My math might be a little fuzzy but just how in the world do you do that? (cool if they can actually do it)

Also isn't the Taurus supposed to be the family vehicle. Why are you giving it an engine that powerful...and along those lines, why are you giving a front drive car a 340hp engine. Are you guys nuts?

300hp is about the limit a FWD can handle and still be usefull on the street. Unless you intend on making it weigh over 4000lbs.

...not done ranting yet...

What really 'grinds my gears' is how the US always has to get the "toned down" styling. Does Ford still think everyone here in the US are Puritans? Why can't we have state of the art styling Ford? Are we not up to date with the rest of the world?

...ok...I think I worked my self up into a lather now...rant over.

Who buys the Taurus? Older people who comparison shop it to the Buick Lucerne in my opinion.

And that demographic is the Baby-Boomers. They are the largest demographic in the market today. Haven't you seen the tons of commercials for life insurance, AARP, reverse mortgages, etc.

340hp AWD sedan.. Sounds a lot like a certain automobile from Ingolstadt Germany.

I'd certainly like to hear more. Hopefully Ford doesn't screw up the potential this car has..
