More leaked photos of the new Ford KA
We're less than a day away from the official unveiling of the 2009 Ford Ka, but as is often the case, more cracks are appearing in the dam. This latest leakage comes courtesy of AM-Online, with two new images showing the Ka's new rear end and, more importantly, the interior.

Ford's "Kinetic" cues carry over to the Ka, with a slanted stance, large C-pillar and miniscule spoiler below the rear window. The interior has undergone a thorough update, including a new three-spoke steering wheel with brushed aluminum accents that tie into the door handles and curvaceous center stack. The new IP is a subtle blend of simplicity and functionality, with a high-mounted shifter similar to that found on the EP3 Civic Si, along with two-tone thrones that match the turquoise hue of the exterior.

Earlier reports suggest that motivation will be provided by a choice of three powerplants – a 1.4-liter or 1.6-liter gasoline engine or a 1.6-liter TDCi diesel – and a ST variant will likely follow, powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter.

Ford executives are idiots. They refuse to bring this car to the U.S., and would rather give us their "world car", the Focus. This car could easily compete against the POS Chevy Aveo and run circles around it. I'm not even a Ford fan, but I do know a winner when I see one. It has sold very well for many years in Europe and could be a top subcompact here in the U.S., even if most of us find it to be ugly.

This car is a whole class size smaller than the Aveo, which is Ford Fiesta sized (that is coming to the US).

@ 91z4me,

Fine. Let's just hope Ford brings the right engines.

I bet we do see this car in the US. The current car is made in Mexico and Brazil, and the new model shares a platform with the Fiat 500, which was designed for eventual export to the USA.

WIth all the changes in the market, I bet it will come. If Mercedes can pawn off the dreadful not-so-SMART car in the US, Ford can sell the Ka in the US.

I used to be a Ford fan but gave up around 2001 after many bad experiences including bad paint and an oil pan that rusted out two weeks before the warranty expired. I will probably never buy another Ford. The most idiotic thing out of Ford recently was to use the Taurus name again as the original Taurus was a piece of crap even if it did sell well. They screwed up with the introduction of the 500 (now Taurus) by launching it with an anemic engine and the dreaded CVT in some models.

I'm all for the idea of bringing this car to the U.S. I don't know if it could pass safety regulations, but I'm sure it could if Ford really wanted it to. I don't care for the exterior styling, as the design language doesn't translate too well to a package this small. That's just my opinion, and I'm sure people will disagree with me. To each his own however.

i understand that some of you may not like the design. but the only reason to buy this vehicle would be for gas mileage, anyone know what it is?
just like the smart car, definitely not cool, but gas friendly? yes.
