More than 38,000 join CAW in protest

One manufacturing job in Windsor supports 12 non-manufacturing jobs? I think that article must be misquoting the CAW.

While it seems manufacturing jobs are leaving Ontario at a slower rate than Michigan, the unfortunate truth is that our government's policies are encouraging companies to close here and open in China and elsewhere. Some might call this free enterprise. I call it societal suicide. Henry Ford was smart enough to know that workers need to be paid well enough to purchase what they produce. Otherwise, we all head into a downward spiral towards the 19th century.

People are just complacent, they only care about the lowest price. A war will fix that mentality real quick.

Must be unionized non-manufacturing jobs, in the real world, it'd only take 6 ppl to do the job of 12 union workers.

I briefly worked with a couple of hundred union guys overhauling aircraft engines, As a summer student, I was not a union member. I could take a Rolls Royce turbojet Nene engine out of its sealed container and strip it down to every last nut and bolt all by myself in one day shift while it took the other 3 guys in the strip section (all union members) to do the exact same thing in the same time. Needless to say, when I went back to school, the output of overhauled engines dropped in half. The union guys were constantly pressuring me to slow down.

Same sort of story my friend's friend who worked on contract with BMW (Oxford I think). The union boys told him that he was sticking pipes in a jig too fast, and it made them look bad.
