Up until this point, we've been feeding you everything that Mercedes-Benz's corporate communications team WANTED you to know about the all-new AMG GT. We're going to take a slight detour though. That's because some new and particularly interesting information has come to light, thanks to the handiwork of Autocar.

As its the second AMG product developed from the ground up and it has a completely different business case than the more unattainable SLS AMG, there is some new thinking going on here.
Take, for example, the vehicle's aluminum-based chassis. Although a lot of automakers have been turning to carbon fiber tubs and other carbon fiber construction elements, it turns out that reduces potential product output. This means Mercedes can produce a whole slew of these things as opposed to a limited set of units.
And the all-new 4.0-liter V8 that will be used also in the C63? By downsizing the powerplant, the company was able to make a more efficient motor that burns more than 30 percent LESS fuel. That's HUGE in a day and age where everyone is MPG conscious.
In addition, the motor was mounted lower for better center of gravity, which leads to better handling.
The best part? According to Mercedes-AMG's chairman, Tobias Moers, "at 503bhp this engine is not highly stressed." In other words, tuners are welcome!
