In hopes that VW's manufacturing numbers surpass those of Toyota, VW will be releasing a new convertible, majorly based on the Audi R8, at the North American International Auto Show in 2008.
The new roadster is dubbed the Rayra(pronounced: RAY-RAH). The coupe not only looks like a R8, it shares the same engine components also. It will have a 420hp 6 speed and 4.2 L Displacement. The maximum output is 420 hp @ 7,800 rpm. The feul consumption is about 15 City/20 Highway.
New Features include Advanced anti-theft vehicle alarm system. A Theft deterrent light in driver's door and an immobilizer prevents engine start when key with automatically changing electronic code feature is not used. A speed warning device that warns you if you are driving to fast.
The Rayra will probably be on showroom floors early 2009. A V10 TDI Diesel engine and a tiptronic will be availible most likley the following year.
