You just saw the new Camry's exterior but as we all know that is only half of the story.  The midsized segment is brutal these days, and everybody in the market is on their toes. 

Brands like Nissan and Hyundai are going for broke and frankly, if you aren't  on the top of your game you are going to get left behind.  It doesn't take long to go from the top to the bottom on the shopping list and the shopper today is far more aware of the features you are lacking and the quality of the materials used.  Put it this way, if you skimp somewhere the buyer is going to find it and you are left scratching your head why they went elsewhere.
