Following-up on more than 300 complaints, NHTSA has expanded their investigation of F150's with spontaneously exploding airbags.

According to NHTSA, the driver's side airbags in some 2004-2006 F150 are detonating at random, inappropriate times. Some drivers complaints have stated the air bag has detonated as soon as the key was placed in the ignition. No major injuries have been reported as a result of a spontaneously exploding F150 airbag.

According to Ford, this problem may be the result of an electrical short. More than 1.5 million F150's may be effected by a potential airbag recall.
