Another member of the Audi A3 family is expected to reach the market in 2016 or 2017: a crossover known internally as the "elevated space vehicle" that targets BMW's planned front-wheel-drive compact crossover. Engineers are working on a concept for a high-roof vehicle that will have either five or seven seats.
Audi has not decided whether to display the vehicle at the Frankfurt show in September. What's unclear is whether new technology chief Ulrich Hackenberg will get deeply involved in its development.
