New Jaguar XF to have the first Apple version of iDrive?
IAN CALLUM: ‘Step inside and the starter button starts to pulsate like a heartbeat. Press it and the car comes to life. The air vents rise up and the JaguarDrive Selector pops up. We took so much comment on the old J-gate change and felt it was time for a change. The dial takes up less space, too. We have been working with Apple on control interfaces. Read Article

What, another iDrive? Can't they learn from BMW's mistake? I thought Jaguar was supposed to be a fun car to drive and not made needlessly complicated with silly things like iDrive. As an Apple computer user I don't blame Apple in any way as they are obviously rsponding to Jaguar's request. Jag is probably trying to get some of Aple's good name to rub off on the Jaguar brand and thereby somehow enhance Jaguar's image.

First of all you are still an idiot ENN. I don't blame you this time. The Title of this post is wrong. Whoever posted it is also an idiot. The interface is touch screen menus in the TOUCH SCREEN I'll REPEAT TOUCH SCREEN. Apple helped design the interface so that you can operate your I POD menus as if you were actually holding the I POD itself. NO I Repeat NO I drive.

Will you people stop posting stuff willy nilly and read it first.

Apple is known to do the right thing with interfaces...which doesn't always means the most snazy way. For example, in the iPhone they probably could have made some cool looking animated widget to turn the sound on/off. But they didn't. They put a switch...a real, honest-to-goodness physical SWITCH on the phone. Not buried behind 3 menu commands.

I think they could do A LOT for car controls, so it is good to hear someone hired them for the job. I hope they were given sufficient liberty to change things.
