New Jaguar XJ's dual-view display may be illegal in U.S.

Personally, it's probably a compromise most people interested in this car can live with.

Agreed, this car is a beauty. The XK is as beautiful as an Aston which is saying a lot, the XF looks very good esp. in XF-R guise and the XJ looks smashing too.

I have very high hopes for the upcoming 2 seater sports car...

Dual-view screen? C'mon. I don't really give a shit about a screen that allows my front-seat passenger to be entertained while I'm driving. That should be left to something called "CONVERSATION". Hey, what a concept!

Not really new news, both Mercedes & Land Rover are using and have shown the technology and both have said it's not yet legal in the U.S.

In an Autoweek article a Mercedes exec said they are working with regulators and hope to see it available here by the end of the year.

I'm still surprised that the GPS and all its animations became legal and so widespread. I don't recall any controversies with the law.

I say ditch that "technology". It's only gonna add unwanted weight to a car that I am sure is gonna be on the heavy side. If it's a must-have, secretly call in some guy from some Chinese electronics company (preferrably the one that Warren Buffet has his bucks in), give them a few dimensions to the dashboard and have them make the dual view screens as an after-market add on. That company makes a few bucks, Jaguar makes a few bucks, Ford makes a few bucks, Tata makes a few bucks, and the technophiles are happy. If the long arm of the law gets in the way, EVERYBODY can claim ignorance. LOL.
