enough with the 18 months of teasing, previewing and spy shots. it's really getting old.

let someone drive the damn thing already. until then, there's NOTHING to talk about.

I really dislike the guy named flipside909. The guy always feels he is special and keeps teasing us Lexus fans but say nothing and always keeps talking about he is the first to touch this and touch that, like the time the new IS came out. Really annoying.

the people commenting here are lexus owners who have been treated to a special event. can you say bias?

let some journalists drive the car!

Those definitely sound encouraging, but I'll have to drive it for myself. The first performance Lexus will definitely not be something to miss.

"Very awesome car. The throttle blips by itself on downshifts and upshifts are very fast and crisp. The sound is terrific and the car is really planted in the corners.
...
It was louder, faster, stiffer than any current IS. The transmission shifted in .1 sec and automatically blipped the throttle on downshifts. The driver told me the traction control has multiple settings but he said it never came on during our test drive and it even allowed the car to drift some but still did not come on."

This sounds like Lexus marketing.

Don't be so naive.

RUBBISH, you think a few lexus fanboys opinion can take on the mighty M3, the M3 is a proven winner, this is-f hasn't seen one day on the road.

Get Real.

Give them to the hands of professionals like Agent 001 ;) and release the numbers already.

This was stolen from Clublexus. Some of ya'll are haters, Lexus was nice enough to give a PREVIEW of the IS-F to forum members. Has anyone else done that??? BMW, Audi, Benz???

This was a great opportunity.

Give CREDIT TO LEXUS AND CLUBLEXUS and FLIPSIDE for helping ORGANIZE IT!!!

BMW, mercedes, audi et al allow journalists to preview and write about the cars. much more useful.

and it's not out of kindness, but marketing savvy. by letting people biased toward lexus drive the cars and talk about it, they're generating good PR for themselves.

BillBill - 8/17/2007 4:12:17 AM

Agreed. The fact that Lexus allowed "fanatics" to drive this car only means they'll report "positively" about it. Smart marketing.

Lexus could care less what biased automotive journalists thinks about the car. They let the people who will actually buy this car get the first look. Just another example of Lexus looking after their customers.

lexus cars TREMENDOUSLY what the automotive press thinks about this car. they have made huge claims about this car and have therefore stake their reputation on it.

if they're weren't worried about what everyone thought, i'd say they were mismanaging the company.

Either the car handles like crap or the guys driving around the track don't know how to drive....both those cars exiting the last corner look very unbalanced.

The M, AMG and RS are toast! Without jam!

Lexus rules. The IS-F will be the new definition of what a sports sedan should be like. Generations in the future will look back to this fateful date and remember how Lexus shaped, took away and conquered this segment from the Germans. The final nail in the coffin has begun. God I love this brand!

This car is out and out crap, just looking at it, and those tailpipes are a joke, they will date by Christmas. In a 100years of motoring nobody did anything so stupid as those tailpipes, in actual fact most brands now hide them. God I hate this brand!

The GT-R will probably garner more attention than alot of the cars at the Tokyo Motor Show, agreed.

OOOOHHHH, a Lexus does a burnout and suddenly this is the best car on the road. If this is the way Lexus intends to sell this product, than they should look at the "Viper, Corvette Z06, Mustang Shelby" market.
This is in now way a proper setting for a "luxury car".
This is so "fast and furious" look at me drifting. This is a jock...

Ricemaster

your name says it all, burnout and drifting is purely ricecooker fashion, and if this is the crowd that Lexus wants to attract, then this is fine by me, but I think that it is not good for their overall image.
The 65 years old average buyer of a Lexus does not want nothing to do with this foolishness and those hooligans...

And by the way Xerokool, I can understand your enthusiasm, but for your information, a downshift blip is nothing new, you can get that in a $28K Audi A3, and many other brands have it too. I am saying that because I don't want some Lexus fanboy to start saying that Lexus invented it...LOL

EL341, Mercedes-Benz products are most definitely up to pace these days. If you disagree, you're living in 2003. That was in the midst of their worst problems. But right now, the C, E, ML, GL, SLK, CLK, SL, CL and especially the S are all very class-competitive. I can't see how you would argue with any of these, because they just are. The ones I haven't mentioned (CLS, R, SLR) don't really have other cars to be compared to.
