New Mercedes C-Class Estate Spy Photos with Less Camo
Seen here for the first time with minimal disguising and testing alongside its saloon brother is the new 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate. We now see more and more of the 4-door model on the roads here in Europe, and we expect the wagon to arrive later in the autumn of this year. We were lucky to shoot the car in Stuttgart earlier this week.

That's what someone posted here. I have not heard anything on it nor the V8 C450.

That hood looks so awkward in my opinion. It's like a Bangle butt, but on the front of the car...

More gripes: the rear of the sedan looks so Korean. It could easily be passed of as a Kia. And the interior is a no-go, but most here will fight this observation to the death, scrambling to compare it to the A4 and IS's interior. Next to an ES interior, it quickly loses a luxury appeal.

Mercedes sold about 360,000 of the last generation, so it was very successful. In Europe we prefer wagons instead of SUVs.

You see this car so often driving around here in Stuttgart and nobody takes photos of it. Maybe I should buy a new camera? I was driving behind this car for a few minutes and I think it looks a bit small for a wagon.

SUVs are still less fuel efficient than wagons, it's simple physics. An X3 is about 4 mpg worse than the equivalent 3 series touring, and quite a bit slower.
The toruing is also cheaper, handles better etc.
Why would you buy the X3? For 20 litres more boot space?

Ricemaster, you forgot to include the facts in your rant of generalizations.

No utility vehicle on a full-frame chassis can match the fuel economy of a wagon (or tall wagon commonly called a "crossover" today). If you know of one, please share the details with us.

An M5 sportwagon is a brilliant vehicle -- it's perfect for daily driving, family trips, weekend warrior activities at the track. Same cannot be said for any utility vehicle, which of course compromises economy and dynamic performance for the sake of towing.

If you like to DRIVE and need space, get a wagon.
If you need space and towing capacity, you have to get a utility vehicle.
If you're RICEMASTER, then you're an arrogant little twit who has no respect for different driver's needs and situations.

"They eat about the same amount of gas as many wagons of the past."

Although your other OPINIONS can't be completely proved wrong, this is where you're transparent.

"...wagons of the past."

Shall I repeat that? PAST. PAST. PAST. PAST. PAST.

Let's compare a wagon of TODAY to its SUV/CUV equivalent. Conveniently, Rupert brought up the 3 Series Touring and the X3:

328xi X3
MSRP: $36,100 $38,000
BHP: 230 260
MPG: 19/28* 18/26*
LBS: 3770 4012
HDRM F/R: 38.5/38 38.1/37.8
0-60: 7.1 7.1

I know which one I'd choose.

Realy, I hope you do not have any kids. Because when you are death they do not get any fresh air and there will not be any forsiel energy left. I hope that our goverment will going forbid the SUV's in our country. (The Netherlands) They have already started to increase the taxes on these cars.

No surprises with this one. I love the E wagon, but the C-Class Estate has never tickled my fancy.

Mercedes should make the rear quarter of the R-Class look like that. No wonder the current R is not selling well.
