New York Auto Show: Infiniti G37 to debut at New York along with EX Concept
Back in early January we brought you a sketch Nissan released of its upcoming G coupe. Now officially confirmed by an email from Nissan today, the G coupe will be called the Infiniti G37 coupe. The Infiniti G37 coupe is expected to carry a modified, but less powerful, version of the engine used in the GT-R. Check out the teaser image of the front left headlamp.

Nissan will also be unveiling the EX Concept that will display a crossover coupe and new technology Nissan is planning to incorporate in its production cars.

Should be a looker.

But isn't 3.7L too big for a v6? sounds like a truck engine. Infiniti should develop direct injection like Lexus instead of relying on increasing displacement.

Considering that Porsche has a 3.6 and 3.8 for the 911 I don't think a 3.7 is too big. Engine internals make a big difference as well.

Yeah! It's like putting a v8 in a smaller car. WAIT! What the heck it BMW and Lexus doing with v8 in a small car!?

The headlight from the picture above look very boring compare to the current G35 model.

My guess would be because it's going to be a 3.7L engine. Just like Lexus, MB and BMW use engine sizes in their numbering this is the same.

It is supposed to be a "detuned" version of the GT-R engine, and also because it is going to be 3.7L in displacement.

I see. Thanks for the info.

Will it have any more power than the sedan? The customary 20hp increase, like the old one?

Why was I de-boosted? For asking a question?

They could have a 4 liter V6 with balance shafts and it would still be very smooth. My problem with the G35 is they should offer a G25 or G27. The G35 is a very fast car, but what about those of us who just want a moderately brisk accelerating car AND get good gas mileage. The G35 does not get especially good mileage, in fact is kind of bad; that's why I just bought a Lexus IS250. Great fun to drive and 24 mpg in town and 35 on the highway.
Please, don't laugh at this post.

no laughing here, you bring up a good point...though Nissna's business model seems to be with ever increasing HP. Remember the Maxima back when it had 200HP and the Hondas only had 140? Or the G35 with 260hp when the BMW e46 had 225?

Everyone's in the power race. You're doomed if you don't keep up.

They better give this ride a dual clutch system or at least a 6 speed sequential and not the 5 speed auto.

Can someone educate me on retaining a 5 speed auto vs a 6 speed?

Yeah that is pretty much it. I was depressed to hear that Honda doesn't plan to release a 6-speed automatic transmission, because "the 5-speed is good enough". I knew that it was a cost issue and the same thing remains with Infiniti. However the G37 might launch a six speed sequential, who knows. We do know that the GT-R will have that six speed.

In Middle East The 2007 G35 Sedan come with a 3.5 V6(i am not sure about it having 3.7---I'll recheck now) producing 327BHP.

I presume this engine will come in the new G37 Coupe.

If this is the case then what about the G35 sedan that just came out? It would infuriate the new G35 buyers if they changed engine the year after which lowers their resale value.

Just like how BMW did with the 330i changing it to 335i. Major loss for the 330 guys. I know I wouldn't be happy.

Anyways, G35 sounds better than G37 anyways.

So, if the G37 has 327 HP or 300 Plus, what will the torque rating be? And will this mean that BMW and Lexus will increase their HP (BMW cranking more boost, and Lexus doing some exhaust an chip mods)?

I presume the Middle East model doesn't have to conform to stringent emissions tests

the irony is that the Lexus only comes to middle east as the IS300 for virtually the same price as the G35 sedan.

Formula1, you're not a performance enthusiast, you're just a badge whore.

Xdrive is a BMW fan, obviously, but he/she has an open mind (as do I) and respects Infiniti's engineering prowess.

The G35 is lauded as the greatest-ever competitor to the 3 Series, and it would take a blind fool not to see that.

Neither can I. I was mightilly impressed with the last-gen G35 coupe. I hope the new one is just as sexy, and oh, that exhaust note!
