I believe it was about 2 yrs ago that we saw an article here in Autospies comparing the Lexus 600h and the Audi A8 V12 Diesel. The results were pretty convincing: the A8 consumed less, poluted less and had better performance all around. Just the exact opposite of your conclusions. I agree that people in this class care about speed, but not so much as your average Fast & Furious rice rockets you see around, trust me.

caixa2, actually that article was comparing the LS600h to an Audi A8 V8 diesel, not a V12, but yes, the Audi outperformed it in every category AND got 50% better fuel economy. It was also $32k less expensive if I remember right. I don't remember all the figures but basically it did everything better for a lot less money.

I stand corrected, JRobUSC, it was a V8 diesel, you're right. As for the LS600h competing against its 12 cylinders counterparts, I agree. Yet the article above (and more importantly, david969's response) was over the use of diesel vs. hybrid, which in this case (and the article that I mentioned) makes a lot more sense to use the new diesel technology instead. If you don't believe that the A8 V8 beat your LS600h, then do some research, the article was posted here in Autospies a few years ago. You can also find a video (Top Gear if I'm not mistaken) about the range of the A8 V8 TDI where they take the car from one city to the next without refilling the tank. Don't know the exact specs on the distance but the video is pretty impressive.

thing is, pretty much only americans care bout hybrids at this, current stage of development. Next gen hybrids will be better and perhaps europe will accept them, but right now, naaah.
