Next Gen Saab 9-3 Convertable
Here we find the best pics yet of the Next Gen Saab 9-3 convertable. The new front end and tail lamps look to be very aggressive, we can only hope that it will offer Saab's newly pattented XWD to help the perfomance match the looks. Read Article

Starting to look like Saabs again... a bit odd and proportionally strange, but in a good way.

I like it...that blue is a nice color on it. I see some 5 series in the front end too. It looks better on the Saab.. Kinda looks like its smiling at you.

Looks great. That front end with the air ducts makes the front end stand out!

I think Saab should bring back the "Viggen" division and make it an AWD like the Saab Viggen Pikes Peak. I'd definitely buy one over the Mitsu Evo or the Subaru WRX STI.

There's something about Saab design that I find so much more appealing than other foreign auto makers.

I would love it if they could whip Saab into a company that combinds the best atributes of Subaru and Audi. Or at least a more up scale Subaru.

Wasn't the Viggen critisized for its shaky chassis?

I've also heard it had unhealthy torque steer.

Rear end reminds me of the Jag XK, except not as sexy. Front end, I'm not sure about.

At least spell "convertible" correctly...

Headlights look like the 9-5s, but with more of a BMW 5-Series resemblance from my perspective. Also, I agree that the front would look a little better with shorter overhangs.

So... I guess you people can't get the Hirsch upgrade where you live? Here you can buy a Saab with a factory installed Hirsch upgrade which will push the Saab 9-3 1.8t to 200+ hp while retaining full warranty for about 1000$...

I don't think they are going to bring the Viggen versions back... Saab doesn't really have the image to sell a highpowered sports sedan or coupe... Saab is very similar to Volvo in image and just look at how bad Volvo did with their "M3-fighter", the S60R... If you've even heard of it! Saab buyers are too sensible to buy a car with 300+ horsepower... They buy Saabs because they are so sensible! Had they wanted something with several 3-400 horsepower and sporty handling, they would have bought a BMW or Audi! My guess is that we won't see Saabs with more than 250-260 hp any time soon...

Don't you have the Aero there? You don't really need the Hirsch upgrade- Aero has 250hp.

Well... I was refering to the Aero;

"My guess is that we won't see Saabs with more than 250-260 hp any time soon"

The Hirsch upgrades are just for the few who something extra... Which obviously isn't that many, because even though a Hirsch tuned 9-3 1.8t that pumps out almost 200 hp is by far the best hp to price ratio in the class, I can't find any Hirsch tuned 9-3s when i do a used car search in denmark... Which just suppports my claim that Saab-owners don't buy their cars because of performance!

I'm in love with the Saab design. That's what sold me on the newest 9-3, but they are the most impractical cars to own in the U.S., unless you live near a dealership or drive the Saab 9-2X; then you could just go to the Subaru dealer. The closest one to me is 4 hours away and there are no Certified Shops in my area.

Saab will have to sort out there suspension geometry if they want to have 300bhp,to much torque steer on cars that have +260bhp.

You could fit another trunk in that front overhang.

Patented XWD? what's that all about? Will the Saab marketing guys be smart enough to tell potential customers exactly how this thing works, i.e. with a detailed technical drawing in the brochure instead of just some useless marketing hype? Everyone already knows what AWD does but what is missing is full disclosure about the various designs so we can evaluate which system is better and more cost-effective for our needs.

Not liking the tailights, Front end is definetly speaking the current 9-5's language. I've always liked the current 9-3 styling, but the interior, although nicely crafted, isnt very good to look at in my opinion.

They definetly need a strong AWD competitor.
