Next-gen BMW 6-series renderings
BMW’s next-generation 6-series coupe and its cabrio variant aren’t due to arrive until late 2010 at the earliest as the current model was only given its mid-cycle facelift a little over a year ago.

However, we can get a taste as to what to expect for the new GT thanks to these new renderings, which show the car will be heavily influenced by last year’s CS Concept.

bmw has oficially gone lazy, slapping on same interiors/consoles from different bmw models, and now its same front ends ( as the 7series/cs concept) come on now bmw, do it like the old days, all models where unique in their own way

I don't know, as much as I am not a fan of the rear of the 6-series, this photoshop is quite possibly worse- it looks like they took it from a Toyota Avalon.

Having said that, this is just some photoshop, so I am sure it won't actually look like that.

im confused as to what you mean the old days, because bmw fan knows for years bmw models have looked like smaller, larger, and 2, 4, or wagon variants of each other it wasnt until the 02 7 series that bmw stepped away fromt his

these are just renderings based on the CS concept.
but i believe the real car is going to look different.

same thing happened to the new 5 series. i have seen the "CS concept version" of it. but it end up with something else.

though these images aren't from BMW, I agree with you. Every "new BMW model" rendering we've seen since the CS was first shown has basically been a graft of the CS front end onto the existing body.

But with that said, that looks fantastic. I hope the new 6 does look like that, though I doubt it will.

I agree. Its hard to comment on a photoshop, but if it did look like this, it would be an improvement over the current 6 series which, imo, is still a great looking car.

they've sliced and diced that cs concept in so many ways for photoshops. the cs concept has now become the joan rivers of auto design.

First of all, there's no need to scream. Second, there is an FX37. It's in Europe. Only North America gets the FX35.

Errrr. I really like the current model's look. this looks more appropriate for a 3 series coupe re-design.

I really love the CS concept and I'm glad to see BMW safe the current ugly 6 series with it, lets just hope the interior is fixed too.

The M3 conv coupes and sedans are different. ALso keep in mind you have not seen the back yet and all the backs are different on all bmws. Look at the 1 series is different and the X5 is different its only the grills is what is making it look similiar of course.

As long as they don't change the ugly backside of the 6 series, no amount of frontside embellishments will suffice, there is nothing wrong with the frontside of the current 6 series, it is at the back that the car starts to get very ugly.

it would be perfect if they just let the roof line meet the rear bumper as a fastback would, but it has a bit of a decklid. i actually think they were being conscious to not mimmick the fastback of the porsche 911. take a look at the side profile of the current 6 series, then cover the "hump" with your thumb...very 911-ish eh?

Actually, just open the trunk of a 6 Series coupe and look at it from the side.

One magazine did that. It was uncanny.

When you pop the trunk of the six & look at it from the side it looks like a Porsche.

I have a love/hate relationship with the back of the 6, it looks great from rear 3/4 angles but from front 3/4 angles it doesn't look so good.

However the shape of the 6 to me is just one that doesn't get old, more of a design you study before admiring right off the bat.

It may not be the best looking coupe on the road, but if were to ask me, from the correct angles it certainly comes pretty close.

1995 BMW didn't do that because they didn't want to make it into a hatch, they wanted a trunk. Personally I wish it had a hatch in the rear like the Jaguar XK, which is a very good looking car.

does the little d at the back means they will build diesel 6 series?

re "we can get a taste as to what to expect for the new GT thanks to these new renderings"

So, where do these renderings come from? Inside the bowels of BMW, as a key design for the car? Or something else, like some design exploration from BMW (but not approved for production), or some design exploration by a creative artsie who isn't related to BMW?

Without these facts, our response if pure speculation. And may so is the rendering.
